Nikolay and I have been obsessed with transforming small spaces to modern and beautiful sustainable living, implementing green solutions and optimizing every square inch for comfort.

The sunken excavation provides both privacy from the neighbors and utilizes the natural geo-thermal insulative properties of Mother Earth - keeping the space warm in winter and cool in summer, minimizing its environmental footprint.

In addition, it is sporting hydronic heated polished cement floors throughout.

Here nature is the focal point, being right at your doorstep.

The backyard is a lush green oasis with a koi fish pond and creates the illusion of being emersed into the nature.

The space is minimalist and with its clean lines offers an unique contemporary atmosphere with the serenity of an urban oasis.

THE APPARTMENT ?:

The apartment is on the ground level of our Craftsman.
It's tucked away all the way in the back of the house with a separate entrance.
Very private and secluded.
It feels like a green oasis - very serene and peaceful.

It has a great outdoor garden with a koi fish pond, hammock, lemon trees, bougainvillea and flowering plants.
It’s on a tree lined residential street.

It’s just 2 blocks away from animation Studio PIXAR, walking distance to local bars, shops, restaurants.

Very convenient FREE shuttle ( Emery-go-round) to BART ( metro station), shops and Emeryville Marina.

• There is a limited light inside, which forces us to spend more time outdoors in the lush gardens, with a book in the hammock, watching birds bathing and fish playing in the water Lily pond.

The tropical gardens with a koi fish pond are just outside your doorstep, serving as your outdoor living room :-)

Great for business travelers or visitors who plan to explore the area during the day.

If you prefer more light, please look into booking our Stargazer Loft which sits on top of our house, it’s designed as a modern tree house and it’s flooded with natural light.

• depending on your provider there is a chance you have limited cell phone reception. Turning wi-fi calling on on your phone takes care of this. Go to settings > cellular > Wi-Fi calling ON

THE HOSTS?:

We are a friendly, quiet and considerate couple - landscape architect ( Nick ) and a psychologist ( Albena ).

We are both originally from Europe and we've built our dream house with extra space for our families and friends when they visit from Europe.

When noone is visiting, we love hosting the World ? .

We love traveling, plants, outdoors, books and dancing.
We are both vegetarians!
This is our home and we love it!

Our prime goal is to try to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

WALKING DISTANCE to great local bars and restaurants, Trader Joe's, Boutiques, Movie theatre, Emery Train station, Shopping plaza, etc.

We are on the border of Oakland/ Emeryville/ Berkeley.

It lies in a corridor between the cities of Berkeley and Oakland, extending to the shore of San Francisco Bay.
