Best Romantic Farm Getaway Within 2 Hours of San Diego and Los Angeles
Tucked in the hills of San Diego, our organic subtropical farm is a great centrally located getaway destination. The 4-room suite occupies the first floor of the original two-story farmhouse on our family farm and has it's own entrance with no shared spaces. Relax in the hot tub and enjoy the quiet! We have three other farmstay homes here if this one is booked, or you'd like to reserve for a larger party.

Space
Queen bed, walk-in closet, small living room and beautiful limestone bathroom with all the basics waiting for your arrival. Completely private with a full kitchen off the living room. Our vintage 1952 Chambers stove is an interesting addition to the kitchen, as it was state of the art then, and many collectors feel it hasn't been improved upon since. Come see why! Full size refrigerator stocked with breakfast items, bottled water, snacks and fresh certified organic fruit from our farm when in season. Flat screen TV, no outside cable. Coffee maker with coffee, toaster, juicer, microwave waiting for your enjoyment. Hot tub with jets for your private use just steps from your door. Efficient mini-split heating and air conditioning system. Wifi.

Guest access
Great parking, just drive right up to your door. Walk the farm during day light hours or with a really good flashlight. We ask that you just stay on the roads. Super fast Wifi here at last! The Oaks Restaurant is a couple miles away and is a homey cafe type destination for breakfast, lunch or dinner. They also have a produce stand/market and frequent market events, as well as a vintage candy store on the site. For something a little pricier and definitely on the romantic side: down the road a bit further is Temecula Creek Inn's Cork Fire Kitchen. We've gathered a few menus from cool local restaurants and the local winery down the road a piece, they're in the room for your perusal. Most of the year there's Kenny's you-pick strawberry farm right down the road as well. You'll see small signs on Old 395 as you drive in from either direction. Absolutely awesome strawberries, pick them yourself, or buy them already harvested. We send an exhaustive Activity Guide, Winery Listing, Food Map and Restaurant Guide in PDF format to all confirmed reservations, via email.
Guest interaction
Just ask if you have questions about what to see or where to go, there's so much to do in San Diego! We always respect our guests' need for privacy. We'll send you our Activity Guide, let us know before your arrival if you'd like to opt for one of our private classes: cheese making or hand churned ice cream. :)

Neighborhood overview
Little known, even to San Diegans, Rainbow, California is adjacent to Fallbrook and is right off the I-15 freeway, yet our farm seems like it's miles away from the city. Only a few minutes off the I-15, we're freeway close. 40 minutes or so to Oceanside's beautiful beaches and Carlsbad's flower fields and Legoland, and an exit south of Temecula's wine country tours, right in between San Diego and Los Angeles renowned attractions. Twenty-five minutes or so from Cal State San Marcos University, thirty-five minutes or so from San Diego Wild Animal Park in Escondido and a little over an hour to Seaworld and world famous Balboa Park. The local farmers' market is on Saturday and is 15 minutes away in Old Town Temecula...a destination in itself. We're one exit south of Temecula. Be sure to check out Temecula Olive Oil Company's tasting bar if you find yourself in Old Town. Temecula has a number of vineyards eager to showcase their wines, wine country is one exit north of us (10-15 minutes) and if you book early enough, hot air ballooning is a local wine country favorite.
Getting around
No public transportation, you need a car for sure! Mountain bikes wouldn't be a bad idea! Closed toe shoes, rather than high heels or flipflops are a good choice if you intend to hike around the property.

Other things to note
Maximum occupancy is 2 adults in this unit. There is only one queen bed, and the coach has a hydraulic tilt-back feature and center console that doesn't allow for sleeping on it. We do not accept children in this unit, but do in our larger two bedroom bungalow. The parking area for our farmstay unit is easily large enough for two medium sized cars or one really big dually type truck. If you are arriving in a very large truck, know that there is going to be some fiddling (as in a 4 or 5 point turn) to get your vehicle parked but there is definitely room to do so. I parked my 6-L Diesel Ford 350 dually there for many years. You can, too. Occasionally guests in two vehicles want to arrive early to drop off one car, and then return later at check-in time. We're eager to accommodate you if the parking area is available before your check-in time. Otherwise we will find another spot on the farm for you so that you can enjoy your pre-check in hours in one vehicle. Just ask!

Wow...this is as tough as a job interview. Who am I? I really enjoy meeting different people, and count myself lucky to get to share this little slice of farming paradise with lots of well traveled guests. A confirmed Foodie, my original interest in growing things was for my own table. So a lot of what we grow here at Morning Song Farm is rare and unusual; dragon fruit, mulberries, macadamias, guavas, loquats, sapote, Carissa plum and kumquats. My shelves are proof of my eclectic tastes, including organic gardening books, mediation, political history, economics and numerous cheese making books which has become a focus for about a decade now. I teach it here for those that would like to discover how easy it is to make your own cheese! Just ask.
Aesthetics are important to me, I've worked hard to transform our farm into something beautiful...although it's an ongoing fight against the dark forces of weeds and derelict farm equipment. Friends say staying here is very relaxing, the skies are often filled with stars you can't see in the city, and although city-close, it feels like we're far, far away. I need that solitude, as many of our visitors will attest to, it's restorative.
