Vancouver is a vibrant and active city! Like any other large city, this does come with sounds of traffic, trains, construction, people, music, etc.
Please consider this when booking.
Strathcona is a lively and historic part of East Vancouver, celebrated for its heritage homes, lush parks, and close-knit community. Although it’s about six blocks east of Main and Hastings, many assume they need to pass through this area to get downtown. While Main and Hastings is often associated with being a more run-down section of the city, it’s completely avoidable with easier, alternative routes.
Instead of heading down Hastings, you can simply walk one block up to Pender Street and head west, or take a scenic bike or car ride by going two blocks down, turning **left** on Clark Drive, and then **left** on Powell Street. This quieter route takes you directly into downtown without having to pass through the Main and Hastings area.
For an even faster trip, whether you're biking or driving, go down Hastings, turn **left** on Clark, and then **left** on Powell. Follow Powell to Main Street, make a **right**, and you’ll soon loop around a bridge that leads onto W. Waterfront Road. This road will take you through a breezeway under Canada Place, where you’ll discover a hidden entry to the seawall. Here, you'll be treated to stunning views along the waterfront near the Helijet terminal in Coal Harbour. This route is quick, scenic, and helps you bypass the less desirable parts of town, delivering you straight to the waterfront and the beauty of Vancouver’s harbor.
