Welcome to our peaceful mountain cabin in Mykland, Southern Norway – a unique off-grid retreat surrounded by stunning nature and complete tranquility.

The cabin offers panoramic views of mountains and open wilderness, perfect for a relaxing getaway far from crowds and city life. Enjoy direct access to hiking trails, and explore nearby lakes ideal for swimming and fishing.

This cozy cabin is perfect for couples, families, and small groups seeking an authentic Norwegian nature experience.

The space
The cabin features three bedrooms and accommodates up to six guests, making it ideal for couples, families, and small groups. Inside, you will find a cozy living room with a wood-burning stove and dining area, perfect for relaxing after a day outdoors.

The kitchen is equipped with a gas stove and all essential cooking equipment, allowing you to prepare your own meals with ease. The bathroom includes a clean, odorless eco-friendly toilet and sink, as well as an outdoor shower for a refreshing nature experience.

The cabin is powered by solar energy, providing lighting and the ability to charge your phone, offering a comfortable yet authentic off-grid stay. There is no running water in the cabin, but 50 liters of water will be provided upon arrival. Additional clean groundwater, which is of course safe to drink, can be collected from a dedicated water shed located a 2-minute drive away.

Outside, you can enjoy a spacious seating area with a fire pan and a stunning 180-degree panoramic view of the surrounding mountains – perfect for quiet mornings and unforgettable evenings.

Other things to note
Hiking and swimming:

The area around the cabin offers great opportunities for hiking through forests and open mountain landscapes. One of the most popular routes is the hike from the cabin to Befjell, the highest peak in the region, which is about 4 km each way (8 km round trip). Another excellent hiking destination is Himmelsyna, located around a 20-minute drive away, known for its scenic views and varied terrain. For easy navigation and inspiration, we recommend using the UT app to discover trails in the area.

Within walking distance from the cabin, at the top of the area, you will find a quiet and secluded spot for swimming, perfect for enjoying nature in total privacy. If you prefer a sandy beach, Vågdalsfjorden can be reached in approximately 10 minutes by car.

Water:
There is a shared water station in the cabin area where you can collect fresh and clean groundwater at any time.

Fishing
Nearby, the Uldal river system provides good opportunities for trout fishing. Please note that a fishing license is required and can be purchased online.

Wildlife:
The surrounding untouched landscape is home to a rich variety of wildlife. You may observe different bird species, and about 1 km from the cabin there is a well-known area for black grouse lekking. In the evenings, it is not uncommon to hear roe deer or owls, and the area also has visible signs of hares.

Grocery store & EV charging
The closest grocery store is Joker Mykland, located about a 20-minute drive from the cabin, where you will also find an electric vehicle charging station.

Nearby attractions:
Evje is approximately 40 minutes away and offers a range of activities including Mineral Park (a family-friendly theme park), go-karting, rafting, and climbing parks.

The coastal town of Arendal is about 55 minutes away and is well worth a visit.

Kristiansand can be reached in around 1 hour and 20 minutes, where you will find Kristiansand Zoo, one of the largest amusement parks in Scandinavia, along with shopping, restaurants, and entertainment options.
