Endangered Hawaiian monk seals are frequent visitors to our beach. Guests often spot them resting on the sand or swimming nearshore. A special part of staying at Compass Blue Lahaina Shores.
Beachfront is truly beachfront resort. You are on the 4th floor of the building to the left
A surfer is returning from their morning surf session by the harbor (yes there are lessons available on site, Bully’s).
Room lanai facing the mountains "Mauka" with table and seating for two.
Your private lanai overlooking the West Maui Mountains. Sip morning coffee in the hanging chair or work remotely with these inspiring views as your backdrop.

Frequent rainbows grace the West Maui mountains. This is the Maui you came for. Best viewed from the hanging nest chair with your coffee or tea when you aren't in a hurry. To left is the Lāhainā harbor and the Banyan tree.

This outdoor shower is an absolute necessity for staying beachfront. Use it as you come and go and prior to entering the pool or building the pineapple light fixtures are your private beach gate and you’ll need a room key to swipe in and out.
After the sun sets, the pineapples light up. One of our favorite small things at this resort.

Details matter. Fresh coconuts, volcanic sand, the feeling that you've found your own private corner of paradise.
Post-hike ritual. After surfing, hiking, or a long snorkel session, the hot tub becomes your favorite spot. It's social in the best way. Other guests share recommendations and surf report updates, it's where active travelers decompress.
The view from the pool tells you much about this location, location, location. Lanai island rises across the channel, whitewater breaks mark the reef, and trade wind clouds drift overhead. You're positioned at the heart of Hawaii's island chain.
It’s hard to miss the view here. From kitchen facing the west Maui mountains. French blue style drinking glass. The cream colored armchair converts to a twin bed (Serta branded).
Hawaiian hospitality expressed through thoughtful details. This isn't just a rental, it's a curated creative retreat

Quality amenities provided. Everything you need is here. Bring your creativity, leave the logistics to us.
Vintage style glass knobbed doors provide privacy between the toilet and shower room and the sink and mirror area to provide "together but separate" privacy. Bath gel, Shampoo and conditioner are provided.
Whales visiting the shoreline at the resort in January 2026. They breech surpirsingly close. Whales and their calves (babies) can be very active. Look for the puffs/ blows.
Your morning walk. No destination required: just sand, palms, and the ocean calling. The kind of solitude that clears the mind. Zen Honu ahead.
Beach neighbors. Honu (green sea turtles) rest and nest nearby, reminding you to slow down and respect the rhythm of this beautiful, resilient place.
Watch sailboats drift by, honus and monk seals nap. The pace of island life is visible from here: slow, intentional, restorative. From November to May, whales bring energy and you can watch them breech from shore (or hop on a boat).
Enjoy the ambiance of under cabinet lighting in the evenings in the Compass Blue kitchen, recently updated with all new appliances and dishwasher. Well equipped for cooking your favorite meals in your home away from home, granite countertops.
Coffee is in reach or have your meal outside at the table and chairs al fresco. Full kitchen designed for actually cooking, not just reheating takeout. Granite counters, stainless appliances, and these blue velvet chairs add personality.
The endangered Hawaiian monk seal is a frequent visitor, but please keep your distance The Honu (turtles) also rest here daily. Rare Hawaiian monk seal sighting on your beach. They understand the value of peaceful beachfront space, just like you.

You can rent water equipment from this pop-up just down the beach. That is our building in the background.
The famous Lāhainā Banyan Tree is thriving. Taken January 2026. Just a couple of blocks to your left at the harbor. You can see it to the left from your lanai.
Whale watch boat just down the beach from Lāhainā harbor with Hawaii Ocean Project. (Walk over)
The convertible seating & sleeping solution. Serta loungers flatten into comfortable twin beds when you need extra sleeping space, 15 seconds back to a chair for day use. Gray quilted covers included as mattress pads/day covers & of course linens.

About this place

Beachfront studio Mauka View at Lahaina Shores where Hawaiian monk seals and turtles (Honu) rest on the sand and humpback whales breach offshore Nov- May. My family's been on Maui 40 years, this is the island knowledge we share. Queen bed + 2 convertible Serta twin beds (sleeps 3-4), full kitchen, central AC, private lanai with West Maui Mountain views, iconic Banyan Tree visible left from your lanai. Popular surf spot. Recently renovated, coastal-modern design. Beach towels & umbrella provided.

The space
My family uses this studio a few times per year—our items are in the locked owner's closet. The main closet and drawers are yours.
Gray quilted chair covers are in the drawers if you'd like to use them on the cream-colored convertible chairs. They work as day-use protection or as mattress pads if you're converting them to twin beds for the night.

Guest access
Check in at the 24-hour front desk. They'll give you keys and parking info. Your studio is private, the resort grounds are shared (pool, hot tub, beach).

Island etiquette is important here. Use the outdoor shower to rinse off, then take a minute to dry with your towel before going inside. Walking through the lobby dripping wet leaves puddles or sand trails that make you look like an inconsiderate mainland tourist. Locals notice these things.

Lahaina is rebuilding. If you walk through the surrounding neighborhoods, keep your phones tucked away. The community appreciates respectful visitors 💕

Other things to note
There's a Coffee Stop (a local walk-up or drive-through, food truck style cafe) at the corner of the main road and Lahainaluna Rd. If you need your Latte or Americano. It's a flat mile walk - take the road below the main one, it's less like a highway. Go before 10am to avoid the heat. Starbucks is 1.8 miles.

Hydrate, wear a hat, use regular sunscreen (spray sunscreen is another mainland habit that creates problems - sticky residue for housekeeping, damage to the reef) 🙂.

For making coffee in your room, bring your favorite Nespresso original pods or Keurig K-cups.

Skip large checked luggage. Pack swimsuits, sarongs, and laundry pods. We provide two quick-dry towels, but heavy beach users might want to bring extras. At $5.50 per load, rewearing a few things is way cheaper than baggage fees. You won't need nightclub wear or dress shoes.

Bring your first few meals and easy breakfast items. The real time saver is getting outside as soon as you arrive instead of hunting for groceries, bleary eyed (Foodland Farms & Safeway are closest).

Hi, I'm Kristie and I have been doing vacation rentals since 2001, before Airbnb was even a term we used as a descriptor ;-) Come see our endangered Hawaiian monk seals, turtles at rest on our beach and the whales in season...either from the beach or hop on a boat you can board a couple of blocks away. Happy to serve as your personal concierge for all things Maui.

Getting around

To rental car or not to rental car? That is up to you, but honestly, we have stopped. Cost wise is has been far less to Uber or Lyft from the Airport to Lahaina Shores Beach Resort. We book West Maui Taxi (Flat Rate) to return (it's better for the drivers). Recent price upticks, even at beach areas has made having a rental car a significant additional expense. Most guests on island tend to drive around 1-2 days out of 7. Even if you uber to Keawe, Cannery or Old Lahaina Luau or Aloha Mixed Plate and back (2 miles) to shop and go to restaurants, it's still less and you don't have to worry about the gas/ return at airport process.
