Exporting gives other platforms a link to your Houfy availability, so a booking taken on Houfy blocks those dates on Airbnb, Vrbo and anywhere else you list.
This is the half of sync that hosts most often skip, and skipping it is how you end up double-booked on a Houfy reservation. You also need to import the other platform's calendar into Houfy. For how the two directions fit together, see How calendar sync works on Houfy.
Step 1 — Get your Houfy iCal link
Go to Menu (top right) > Manage Listings.
Click Edit > Calendar on the listing.
Click Export.
Next to Only Houfy Reservations, click Copy.
Copy the whole link. It ends in .ics. Do not use whichever link happens to appear first: the export dialog offers more than one, and only the Only Houfy Reservations feed carries your Houfy bookings.
Step 2 — Add it to the other platform
Airbnb
On airbnb.com, go to Host > Listings and select your listing.
Select Calendar, then click Availability settings.
Scroll to Sync calendars and select Import Calendar.
Paste your Houfy link.
Name it Houfy and click Import calendar.
Vrbo
Sign in to Vrbo and open your owner dashboard.
Select the property, then open Calendar.
Select Import & Export, then Import Calendar.
Paste your Houfy link and save.
Any other platform
Find the platform's calendar import or sync screen and paste your Houfy link there. Any platform that supports iCal, including Booking dot com, has one.
How quickly will they update?
That is up to the other platform. Each one decides how often it pulls in your Houfy availability. As a guide, Airbnb typically pulls roughly every 2 hours and Vrbo can take up to 6 hours, but those are approximate and set by them rather than by Houfy.
If you take a Houfy booking and need the other platform to block those dates immediately, use the sync or refresh button in that platform's calendar dashboard. Houfy cannot push a booking to them; they have to pull it.
Stop exporting to a platform
Remove the Houfy calendar from the other platform's calendar settings, on the same screen where you added it. Deleting a calendar inside Houfy only stops Houfy importing from that platform; it does not stop them reading your export link.
