Overview

Golden Dunes is a cozy cottage that is very well suited for small families and their dogs and equipped to provide you with all you need for a stress free getaway.

Ocean, lighthouse & sunset views from many decks, you’ll be able to enjoy the beauty of OBX from the comfort of this charming, dog friendly, cottage. Beach access is a short walk. After a day at the beach, relax in the heated private pool or hot tub on the upper deck under the stars. WiFi to keep connected.

Dogs are welcome at Golden Dunes and we cater to them too, so that their stay is a wonderful as the human guests. We provide an outdoor kennel, crates (sm, med, lg), gates, poop bags, bowls, food tray, towels, furniture covers and a cooling mat.

Nightly rates include pool heat/cool to 80 degrees, linens and pet fees.

The community has an oceanfront and sound side pools, fitness center, pickleball, playground, basketball, sand volleyball and tennis courts.

Ground Level: Carport, enclosed outdoor shower, private heated pool and kennel area. Security cameras will be added in November 2022 and tampering with the cameras / WiFi may result in eviction.

Mid Level: Entrance, four bedrooms, three full bathrooms and the laundry area.

Top Level: Living area with TV, ships watch and ocean/sound/lighthouse views, kitchen, dining area, half bath, screen porch, hot tub on top level deck.

Getting around

Corolla is off the beaten path and accessing Corolla requires a car or a long, expensive cab / Uber from Norfolk International Airport. Should you want to drive on the Northern Beaches a 4x4 is required. Uber and Corolla Cab are also available for transport around town, if you desire. More information is provided in the Golden Dunes Guide.

Our dream to own a home on OBX became a reality in 2020 when we purchased Golden Dunes, formerly Windancer. We used a property management company for the 2021 season, but decided to self manage beginning with the 2022 season, as I have recently retired and have the time and desire to put into self managing.

I live near Annapolis, Maryland with my husband, daughter and 3 golden retrievers. I plan to begin breeding my goldens in 2023, another long time dream of mine. You may have guessed, the name Golden Dunes it a bit of a play on words.

I look forward to sharing our home with you and hope that you and your dogs find Corolla to be as magical as we do.

You will receive a personalized door code when the home has been prepared for your arrival on / or prior to 4 PM.

Copy of driver's license will need to be presented prior to booking confirmation.

Maximum occupancy

Top bunks are only suitable for children and small adults.

Payment Policy

50% down at time of booking with payment in full 60 days before stay begins. Payment plans can be arranged by messaging host.

Refundable Damage Deposit

By booking, guest agrees to pay security deposit prior to check in. Booking guest acknowledges that access to property will be denied until deposit is paid in full or reservation is forfeited without refund. Payment is collected via Houfy and is potentially fully refundable if all rules are honored and no excessive mess or damage is found. Inspections will occur after check out by the cleaners and a determination will be made regarding the condition of the home. If there is damage, missing items or excessive cleaning that needs to be completed the costs will be withheld from the security deposit. Refund is dependent upon ALL guests in the group honoring all House Rules, and is initiated after check out and after all payments have cleared and any needed resolutions made. Our hope is to provide a full deposit refund because the stay went smoothly.

Cancellation Policy

All cancellations must be received in writing. Tenant is responsible for verifying that the owner has received the cancellation letter. There will be no refund of payment on confirmed reservations until the canceled period is fully re-rented and confirmed for the same rental amount. Tenant will be responsible for any discounts extended to re-rent the property if within 30 days of check-in. Once re-rented, all payments will be refunded except as noted.
Please note: Nonpayment of any deposits or balances due may result in a reservation cancellation. Tenants are strongly encouraged to secure vacation insurance.
