Rent a car — PCB stretches 27 miles along Front Beach Road and public transit is very limited. Rideshare (Uber/Lyft) is available but can surge price significantly at night near bar districts on Thomas Drive.

Order the royal red shrimp whenever you see it on menus — these deep-water shrimp caught in the Gulf have a sweeter, lobster-like flavor and are a regional specialty rarely found elsewhere.

State park entry fees (St. Andrews and Grayton Beach) are $8 per vehicle; bring cash or have the Florida State Parks app ready. Beach chair and umbrella rentals run $30–$50/day — consider bringing your own if staying a full week.

Afternoon thunderstorms are common June through September, typically rolling in between 2–5 PM and clearing quickly; plan water activities for mornings and indoor attractions for mid-afternoon. Pack reef-safe sunscreen — SPF 50+ is a must on the reflective white sand.

Always check the beach flag system before swimming: a double red flag means the water is closed to swimmers, single red indicates high surf and strong currents, and yellow means use caution. Rip currents are the most common hazard on PCB beaches.

Avoid carrying open alcoholic beverages onto the beach — PCB has designated alcohol-free beach areas and city ordinances that are actively enforced with fines; check posted signs at each beach access point.
