“And into the forest I go, to lose my mind and find my soul.” –
John Muir

The name
Sentosa
translates as "peace and tranquility" in Malay, which was in turn derived from the Sanskrit term Santosha (संतोष), meaning "contentment, satisfaction."
Our family and descendents have been in this area for over four generations. We love to travel the world but love coming home to our corner of the world. We hope that you will enjoy the same peace that our family feels here.

Feel free to contact me if you have questions or are in need of anything.

Propane Fire Pit
- please do not use during high winds. Do not turn on full high flame because of fire hazard. To start, open propane valve and then push, turn to on. When not in use, close the propane valve on the tank and turn to off position. Cover the rocks with provided cover when cool. Please do not leave unattended while on!

📷
HOT WATER
- The cabin is equipped with a tankless hot water system.
Although a tankless system can't run out of hot water, it can be overwhelmed with demand. Best practice is to
not run the washing machine with hot water at the same time you are taking a shower as the water heater could struggle to keep up.

WELL WATER
- The cabin’s water is from a well which is approved for drinking through the county health department. However, if you do not like the taste of well water, a few starter bottled water bottles are provided for you.

Inclement weather
:
We are in a rural area and have no control over such things as outages for power, wifi, etc. No refund will be given since these are very rare occurrences and completely out of our control. If it is a long term event lasting days, the stay can be rescheduled. Departures due to inclement weather do not warrant refund of rent or deposit. We highly suggest Vacation Travel Insurance to account for situations such as this.

Sentosa Lane is a paved driveway with a steep incline. The cabin has a short gravel parking area. If snow/ice is expected during your stay, a 4WD is advised.

Power outage
- There are small lanterns located in the bedroom closet and a flashlight on the refrigerator.

**Wildlife Disclaimer
– This cabin is located in the woods with wildlife native to this area. Please be aware that there may be snakes, deer, raccoons, fox, squirrels, bears or opossums as well as other wildlife. The two snakes that are poisonous in this region are the Timber Rattler and the Copperhead. Please be aware of this when walking on the property and in the vicinity when temperatures are above 50 degrees. Bears usually avoid humans but you should not leave food outside or on the decks when you are not around. Please close the lid firmly for outside trash can so as to not attract bears or other animals. Deer and squirrels will be more common.

Sentosa Cabin is a nature lover’s haven but we would like to leave nature and it’s residents outside. Please
do not leave doors ajar as you may invite in unwanted pests such as mice, raccoons, bugs or a possum (unlikely but possible). Lights on inside at night with the door open will invite a multitude of moths and bugs and possibly some larger critters you may not want to share your space with. Leaving food or trash outside unattended may also attract larger critters that you would not want to share your space with.
Please be mindful that you are in a forest and you are the visitor.
