The Tiétar River and its tributaries form a network of natural pools of crystal-clear water that in summer are the star plan of the area. La Garganta Santa María, Charco Verde, the pools of Candeleda, and La Garganta de Guisando are some of the most well-known. Fresh waters, unparalleled natural surroundings, and no beach crowds.

⛷️ Hiking routes:
The Sierra de Gredos offers routes for all levels. From family walks through the valley floor to high mountain routes towards the Circo de Gredos and Almanzor (2,592 m, the highest peak of the Sistema Central). The Regional Park of Sierra de Gredos has impeccable signage and mountain shelters.

🌿 PIEDRALAVES: THE SECRET OF THE TIÉTAR VALLEY

Piedralaves is not Ávila capital nor Gredos in the most touristy sense. It is a small municipality on the southern face of the mountain, where the climate is notably milder than on the plateau (due to the Mediterranean influence of the Tiétar Valley) and where nature permeates everything.

The village has a privileged location: 15 minutes from Arenas de San Pedro, 30 from the Gredos reservoir, 1 hour from Madrid, and 1 hour from Talavera. It is a perfect starting point to explore the entire region of La Vera, the Tiétar Valley, and the Sierra de Gredos.

What surprises those visiting the area for the first time is the richness of the natural environment: clean water rivers, centuries-old pines and oaks, abundant wildlife, and that feeling that nature has not ceded space to humans.
