Modern, Clean, and Spacious bedroom in a classic brownstone townhouse in Manhattan on a residential and school street located directly next to Metro North train stop (10 min away from Grand Central).

My place is great for families and groups of friends who want separate beds, but it also suits those here for business as it is equipped with fast wifi. If you're here for a festival, Randall's Island is 10 min away! I hope I can make your trip to the city both a comfortable and an affordable one!
There are two bedrooms in my apartment that will be available for booking. The apartment is a recently renovated duplex with one bedroom unit on the top floor (the Loft unit), and one bedroom on the bottom floor (the Garden unit). The apartment is placed in a beautiful, classic New York brownstone building. Booking this unit means you will be staying in the Garden unit. The only thing that will be shared is a living room and a fully equipped kitchen. Everything else will be private to you.

Per local regulations, the max number of guests I can host are 2 guests, any additional unreported guests will incur a fine of $100/guest/night.

The Garden unit is a spacious bedroom that is designed in a classic Harlem Garden style. The room has two spacious full size beds, an office area for you to work in, and plenty of closet space. The room will be equipped with an entertainment system, heating and cooling, and high-speed internet.

There is an oversized bathroom located right outside the bedroom door, that is newly renovated with a full-size bath and shower. There will be extra linens and towels, but please use conservatively as it will not be replenished during your stay.

The bedroom has a large closet for you to store any clothes as well as space to store your suitcases. It has a Roku TV that allows you to Netflix and chill if you'd like. There's a small office area in case you need to crank out any work while you're on vacation. Printer/Scanner/Copier with paper available for your convenience while I'm around.

I moved to New York in 2011 from Boston. I love to travel, and I've stayed in over twenty countries using Airbnb. Some of my favorite countries are Italy, France, Japan, South Korea, UK, South Africa, and Spain. I want to make sure I give my guests as great of an experience as my hosts gave me.

Getting around

Most transportation methods get you to the apartment easily. We're conveniently located a few blocks from the 4/5/6 line, 2/3 line, and Metro North. There is also an express bus to and from La Guardia Airport. A few minutes from our doorstep are some of Harlem's favorite eateries: Red Rooster, Chez Lucienne, Barawine, and 125th St shopping (Marshall's, Old Navy, and a plethora of others). There's a gym located two blocks away and they have day passes if you're looking to work out during your stay. Otherwise, you can run along the East River along the esplanade which is a few blocks east of the building. The best form of travel around here is your feet! You are probably in some of the world's most walkable cities (unless bad weather). Many enthusiasts walk down to Central Park and spend the day biking around the most famous park in our city. Citi Bikes can be a fun way to explore the city as well, again if the weather is okay. It is easy to set up and I can help you with that. Airports- JFK- uber ($55, about 40min) or public transit ($7.50, about 1hr 15min Airtran) LGA- taxi (up to $30, about 20 min) or public transit - M60 SBS bus, which is 2 blocks away. NY Penn Station or Port Authority- taxi(about $25, 20min) or public transit($2.75, 30min. 2/3 line train directly to Station). Street parking is free and allowed in the area, you just have to find a spot. Please ask me for my advice on parking if you bring your car.

House Rules

There is a strict no smoking policy for this apartment and the building. Please do not violate it or there is a $350 fee that will be charged or deducted from your security deposit. The reservation will also be cancelled immediately.

There's also a no party policy. Due to past guests breaking this rule, I must charge a $500 fee if this rule is broken and the reservation will be cancelled immediately. The fee will be charged or deducted from your security deposit.

The fee for each additional guest in the bedroom over the two guests listed on the reservation is $100 fee per guest per night.

Please do not lose your keycards. There is a $50 fee for key cards not returned. Always lock the gate when entering or leaving the Airbnb for maximum security. When you check out, drop off keycards in the blue box at the entrance.

Please respect the furniture and building. I will have to charge for any damage to the furniture or building.

Quiet time after 10PM and before 9AM.

Backyard: Unfortunately, the backyard is off limits. It is only to be used as an emergency exit.

A security box or safe is available to protect and safeguard your personal valuables. It is located in the closet. Please keep the door unlocked and open when you check out! If you lock it out, there may be a $50 fee to get the security box unlocked.

To ensure quick and easy booking, please make sure your Airbnb profile is complete with description and picture on which the booking guest is clearly identifiable, especially if this is your first reservation on Airbnb. According to Airbnb policy, I may have to decline your request if the information requested is not provided. No smoking. No parties or events. Check-in is anytime after 3:00 PM.

Cancellation Policy

Similar to Airbnb, you have 48 hours to cancel for full refund, after that it's 50% refund until 30 days before your arrival date.

Notes

If you are a smoker, please be aware that this is a no-smoking apartment. The fee is $350 if you smoke in the apartment and the reservation will be cancelled immediately. I also don't allow for parties given the number of people in the apartment. You will be charged $500 and the reservation will be cancelled immediately. In order to ensure professional cleaning is done before and after each reservation, the cleaning fee has been increased in order to deal with the additional time and effort to make sure everything is sanitized for the next guest. Please do not lose the key cards to the building. Replacing it is expensive! I'll have to charge $50 for each missing key card. On days when there will be a guest checking in after you, I ask the guest that is leaving to do check out by 10 am so the house cleaner has adequate time to thoroughly clean for the next guest. I also ask the next guest to check in no earlier than 3 pm. On days when there is no overlap of guests, we are completely flexible about check-in or check-out times.
