Change a Reservation on Houfy (Step-by-Step Guide)

If you'd like to make a change to a received inquiry on Houfy, you can submit as a host a change request to your guest. Only the host can submit a change request to a guest on Houfy.

  • Hosts who have a inquiry or confirmed booking on Houfy
  • Hosts who want to change dates, guests, or price details of an existing reservation

Before you start

  • Make sure you are logged in to your Houfy account.
  • Have the guest’s name or reservation details ready so you can find the correct reservation.

Steps

  1. Open your messages as a host
    Go to Messages for hosting: https://www.houfy.com/reservations/hosting
  2. Select the reservation
    In Messages, click the conversation that belongs to the reservation you want to change.
  3. Open the message history
    Inside the conversation, click Details to see the full reservation details.
  4. Go to the change reservation page
    Scroll down and click Change reservation.
    This opens the Change Reservation page for that booking.
  5. Change the stay dates (optional)
    On the Change Reservation page, click the Check-in or Check-out date fields and select the new dates you want.
  6. Change the number of guests (optional)
    Click the Guests dropdown and select the correct number of guests.
  7. Edit rates, fees, or security deposit (optional)
    Find the section for rates, fees, or security deposit.
    Edit only the amounts you want to change (for example, nightly rate, cleaning fee, or deposit).
  8. Review the new quote
    Look at the New Quote section.
    Check the updated total, fees, and security deposit to make sure they are correct.
    (Houfy may use your listing pricing to calculate this automatically.)
  9. Send the change request
    When everything looks right, click Send request.
    Houfy will show a confirmation message. Confirm that you want to send the changes.
  10. Wait for the guest’s response
    Your guest will receive an email and an in-site notification asking them to Accept or Decline the changes.
  11. Check if the guest accepted
    If the guest accepts, the reservation details are updated automatically.
    If the guest declines, the reservation stays the same as before.

Troubleshooting

  • I do not see “Change reservation”
    Make sure you opened the reservation from Messages.
    Check that it is a reservation/inquiry and not just a general message.
    Only the host can send a change request. Guests cannot start one.
  • I changed the details, but nothing happened
    The reservation will not change until the guest accepts the request.
    You can send the guest a friendly reminder from the same Messages conversation.
  • The numbers on the quote look wrong
    Check your listing pricing and fees in your listing settings.
    Then return to Change reservation and review the new quote again.

FAQs

Q: Can a guest change the reservation themselves?
A: No. Only the host can send a Change reservation request. The guest can only accept or decline it.

Q: Can I change only the price and keep the same dates?
A: Yes. On the Change Reservation page, leave the dates and guests as they are and edit only the rates, fees, or security deposit, then click Send request.

Q: What happens if the guest never responds?
A: The reservation will stay as originally confirmed. You may send a reminder through Messages and agree on how to proceed.

Q: Will the guest see the new total before accepting?
A: Yes. The guest sees the updated dates, guests, and total amount before choosing Accept or Decline.
