HoufyProtect: The simple solution to protect your place from damages

How to connect HoufyProtect:

• Activation: Go to Manage Listings > Edit Listing > Pricing > Rates & Fees, open the Damage Protection section, and click the houfyProtect card.

• Who pays: in the same section a Who pays dropdown lets you choose Guest or Host. Guest is the default and the houfyProtect fee is added to the guest quote. Choose Host and the fee is charged instead to a card you save on this page.

• Where you will see it: the houfyProtect fee is billed separately from the stay, so it is not counted inside the booking Total. The Total on a reservation is nights, fees and taxes - the money that comes to you - and the guest's houfyProtect fee is charged alongside it. On the reservation page it appears as its own houfyProtect line in the block below the Total. A booking total with no protection line inside it does not mean the guest declined the fee.

• What it costs: houfyProtect costs US$5 per night. On listings priced in another currency it is converted into that currency, so the amount the guest sees will not be exactly 5 in local currency — eight nights on a Canadian-dollar listing is US$40, about C$55. On a booking request the fee is authorized together with the stay payment and only charged if you accept; if you decline, the hold is released in full.

  Requirements: houfyProtect needs a working payment connection on the listing - Stripe with charges enabled, a Square connection that has not expired, or a PayPal account that can receive payments with a confirmed email. Set one up at houfy.com/settings/payment-settings.

• Where it is available: houfyProtect is not currently available for properties in Mexico, Brazil, India, Malaysia, Singapore or Thailand.
