The FREE Summit Stage bus connects Breckenridge to Frisco, Copper Mountain, and Keystone — use it to avoid parking headaches. Within Breckenridge, the free town shuttle loops Main Street every 10-15 minutes.

Afternoon thunderstorms are common June through August — plan outdoor activities for mornings and be off exposed ridges by early afternoon. Pack a lightweight rain layer and sun protection; UV intensity at altitude is significantly higher than at sea level.

Breckenridge is expensive — expect $18-25 entrées at mid-range restaurants. Book activity tours and popular restaurants at least 2-3 days in advance during summer peak season (July-August) to avoid sell-outs.

Look for menus featuring Colorado-specific ingredients: elk, bison, Colorado Lamb, Olathe sweet corn, and green chile (Hatch-style). These dishes are worth prioritizing over generic tourist fare available everywhere.

Altitude sickness (headache, nausea, fatigue) can affect anyone, regardless of fitness level. Drink at least 3 liters of water daily, avoid alcohol on Day 1, and consider over-the-counter Diamox if you're prone to altitude issues — consult your doctor before the trip.

Breckenridge has a very dog-friendly culture — you'll see dogs on patios and in shops everywhere. However, on hiking trails, leash laws are strictly enforced in Summit County to protect wildlife. Always yield to uphill hikers on mountain trails.
