We spent twelve days here enjoying all that Dublin has to offer. We have been traveling across the British Isles for a couple of months and staying in self-catering accommodations like this everywhere. Paul’s place is ideally situated to get out in this bustling city, and that was our primary goal in choosing this apartment. Because it faces an inner courtyard, there is no city noise at all in the apartment, though you do occasionally hear people entering the building, as the windows are directly adjacent to the door to the block. Also, in this extraordinary heat, a fan in each bedroom would have been a welcome addition (though this may be exceptional heat). This place provided adequate space for three adults. One of us didn’t really enjoy the journey around from the far side of the bed in the main bedroom, but there was plenty of room and storage for our clothes and other necessities. The bathroom is quite small, but it too provides great spaces to store everything and plenty of hot water. Paul and his local associates are terrific and very responsive. In fact, the stove stopped working during our stay. We reported this to him that evening, and the next day a new one was installed that was a joy to use. The kitchen is well-equipped, and we enjoyed cooking in the evenings before going out to enjoy a pub or some music. We only wish the stools at the table were more comfortable for sitting and enjoying a meal. The wifi worked flawlessly (this is really important to us), with plenty of bandwidth for us to work and play online as needed. We would absolutely stay here again when in Dublin. In fact, we stayed here for twelve days then returned to Dublin overnight after some travel around Ireland and stayed in an upscale hotel. Having done both, I can’t fathom staying anywhere else in Dublin that will offer the comfort, space, location, service, and amenities that this apartment does.

Our family of 3 lived in Paul and Debbie's home for 3 months and it was a dream. Their newly renovated space is equipped with everything we could have possibly needed (including a 3rd full bathroom) and the best appliances and bidets! We met Paul and Debbie before our stay and they told us about the history of the home as well as how things worked and their favorite nearby places. We did not have a car the entire time we stayed and were able to get everywhere we wanted by walking or using public transport. The location is unbeatable - coffee shops and markets down the block, swans on the canal everyday, quiet but close enough to the city center if you feel like heading that way. There are a number of restaurants and pubs within a 10-minute walk. Paul was super responsive when we had questions and was kind enough to leave things like parking passes for guests, plenty of trash/recycle bags, and much more. We were sad to leave and will absolutely stay again and share our experience with others.

This lodging was the best we encountered on our Ireland travels! Very convenient location, with great response and info from our host John. Very clean and well-lit (lots of natural light), with bonus of 3 bathrooms (2 full, 1 half). Great, easy to use showers (best ones on our trip), comfortable beds, and good lighting, fans in all rooms, and windows that open (all had blinds). Bus stop just outside the door, and a safe, open parking lot about 300 meters up the street (John provided a map with numerous parking options as part of the info). Easy walk to St. Anne's Tower, numerous cafes, restaurants, and pubs and only 2-3 minutes to the English Market (a MUST VISIT!). John also included suggestions on places to visit, restaurants, breakfast places, and pubs, many of which we went to. This apartment and host support helped make Cork our favorite Irish city - would definitely stay here again! Suggestions: better instructions on emptying the grounds from the coffee machine (a very nice one that grinds fresh coffee!). Also, some way to turn off the heaters would be nice, along with better fans for the upstairs rooms (ones that move more air).

The apartment is near pubs, shops, and restaurants. The property owner dealt with an electrical problem right away. Nearby construction caused an interruption in power. The host was so helpful in dealing with this. He also had nice small touches that made our stay pleasant, such as coffee, tea, bottled water, and laundry detergent. He provided detailed instructions on the use of appliances. Not every host goes to these lengths to make his guest comfortable. The only things I would have liked were a fan for the bedroom and a mat for the shower. It was a bit slippery and a danger for old folks such as us. This is just a suggestion for future guests, not a complaint.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this comfortable and cozy apartment during the first week of September. We found everything just as promised. There was a king sized bed and good Internet connection. The apartment was nice and bright and the furnishings, including generous storage space for clothes and luggage, made it easy to settle in. The kitchen was well set up and stocked with basic staples that made it easy to cook at home. The complex itself felt very safe and just as promised there was a grounds keeper who made himself available with tips and advice for enjoying the local attractions. There was a fabulous Meat Market, Green Grocer and Fish Market just a ten-minute walk from the apartment in the village of Donnybrook. We also enjoyed a few of the local pubs within walking distance. Although we had a car, we chose to take the bus into Dublin Center, just a ten-minute ride. We enjoyed seeing Dublin life pass us by from the top front seat in the double-decker bus. Be sure to find and stroll through Herbert Park , located in Ballsbridge… again all within walking distance of the apartment. It was an easy drive to local attractions including Wicklow, Glendalaugh and seaside communities Howth (north of Dublin) )and Sandycove and Dalkley (south of Dublin). Felicity, our landlady, also didn’t miss a trick with her well chosen library of dvds and books that immediately put Irish history into our hearts and imaginations. We were so happy we took an evening to watch The Michael Collins story. It made our drive later in the trip through the south and west of Ireland much richer. We hope to someday have the opportunity to be a guest of Felicty again in her lovely apartment.
