Akumal vacation rentals

Seascape Wow, what a beautiful condo and location. We had a few extra days in Akumal/Tulum due to airline mess in the US and Diana really saved the day for my wife and I. A very last minute booking done late at night and Diana answered promptly. Once the booking was confirmed we received all the information from Diana overnight and we had them first thing in the morning. Very, very efficient. We are familiar with the area, but had not stayed in La Sirena in the past. We loved it so much we will have to return and stay in SeaScape again. Check in was painless, the condo was spotless, furnishing wonderful, the view to the beach stunning the internet was fast and there were electrical outlets everywhere you need them – and many of them had built in USB-A outlets. I mention this because the place we were staying prior to Seascape had very few electrical outlets and no USB-A outlets. There is a work station on one side of the living room, again plenty of electrical outlets – a great place to set up a computer for remote work, but the view is so stunning that you might not accomplish much work ! The screened in patio was a huge plus and the ability to walk directly out on to the beach where there were private chairs and loungers was superb. You are 50 ft away from the ocean and the beautiful reef that is literally right into the water. We loved the bed in the master bedroom – very very comfortable. The ensuite bathroom was beautiful – the shower walls are glass blocks and the decorations very beach oriented. The kitchen was well equipped, but we only used it for breakfast as we eat out for other meals at the many excellent restaurants in Akumal. We loved Seascape and are planning to come back. Thank you Diana for solving the stressful situation created by the airline and making our last few days in Akumal.

Just returned from a wonderful stay at Azul Cielo in this gorgeous location. The condo was lovely, everything we needed for our stay and more, and Diana was incredibly helpful and informative - from assisting with transfers to a wealth of information about the area and suggestions of what to do. Was a great idea of hers to stop for groceries on the drive down to stock up for our stay as limited grocery shopping in Akumal - we went over to the pueblo to the farmers market and stocked up on fresh fruit and vegetables galore. We were there for ten days but only left Akumal once - spent most of our time at the reef right outside our front door. Great snorkeling and steps away from the condo which is on the third floor and has a fabulous view of the bay from a lovely balcony with lush greenery - enjoyed the peacefulness and quiet of our location. Plenty of bars/restaurants down the road in Akumal - it is a bit of a hike in the heat but we rented a golf cart to get around and took a taxi for our day at the Tulum ruins, go early as it is very hot and very crowded. Yal Ku lagoon was right on our doorstep and we spent a lovely day there snorkeling - be aware that no sunscreen is allowed so bring a rash guard - go early before the crowds arrive. When you swim in the reef in Half Moon Bay or with the turtles in Akumal Bay, wear only reef friendly sunscreen FYI. We snorkeled in Akumal Bay (must have a guide but he was great) and we saw the magnificent sea turtles - an awesome experience but again, go early if you can to avoid the crowds. An absolutely wonderful vacation in a great location - highly recommend!

We stayed in Akumal for 10 days in February and had a very nice time. The place was very nice and matched the picture. Everything worked well in the unit. There was lots of space for our three kids, my wife and I, and my father. The kitchen is well equipped with everything we needed. The master bedroom upstairs was really nice and little away from the rest of the house if you needed to get away (too bad for us our kids took it over). The air conditioning was very powerful so after coming home from a hot outing the place was cool in minutes. The staff on site were friendly and helpful. They took great care of the grounds and pool. Our correspondence online with the owner/manager was good. She provided us with a welcome package that was pretty helpful in getting us settled. Other guests in the complex we talked to were friendly with a mix of families and retired couples. Our kids enjoyed the pool multiple times a day. The property has about 15 to 20 other units but only 4 are like this one which front onto the pool. There isn't an ocean view from the unit but about 100 steps will take you to the waterfront. Immediately in front of the property is rocky but a short walk (100 metres or 300 feet) down the beech brought us to the sandy part of the beach. The snorkeling out front was good for us. There were a few places to eat within a short walk but the main 'centre' of Akumal is a 30 minute walk away. We rented a car and used it every day for short outings as there were plenty of other things to do within 15 to 30 minute drive. We hit the big grocery stores in Tulum for our main shopping but were able to supplement for the local (very small) grocery stores. The neighbouring property (not in the same complex) was a bit loud a few nights as they were having a wedding. I believe it is set up to host large groups. It wasn't over the top loud but you knew they were there. Overall we had a nice time and everything went well.

Ok, well I am sure I would have given this property five stars as I noted above if we actually could have stayed there as planned. But because of the Covid 19 pandemic, we had to cancel. But it is important for me to let people know how wonderfully the property manager handled our situation. We were not 100% sure that we had to cancel until just a few days prior to our planned visit. Throughout the few days leading up to our decision, Diana, the property manager was very responsive whenever I left a voicemail or texted. Despite being a very last minute cancelation and well outside of the normal cancelation date range, Diana graciously offered for us to re-book later in the year. When it later became apparent that due to our personal circumstances changing because of the virus, she worked with me to arrange an acceptable refund. She also helped me in my (successful) endeavor to obtain a refund of my service fee and taxes from VRBO. **Please note that I always have travel insurance but with the exception of "Cancel for Any Reason" insurance, no policy would have covered us under these circumstances. We love Akumal, having been there a few times, and I am certain we will return. Because of the gracious, understanding and responsive way that she handled our situation, we will be renting from Diana, without hesitation.

We wanted a holiday to do some snorkeling, and just relax. La Sirena provided everything and more than we expected. Arrangements for shuttle service from the Cancun airport was made with the manager which included a stop on the way to stock up on groceries. When entering the grounds to La Sirena we were amazed by the beautiful landscaping and the cleanliness of the property and the pool. The staff were friendly and always willing to make our stay a comfortable one. The condo itself was excellent. Everything you needed was available. We mostly enjoyed the ocean view from the living room and the patio. You did not have to displace yourself to go snorkeling, as the reef is directly in front of the property. You do need water shoes to enter the water (make sure they fit in your fins) We saw a variety of fish, berracuda and spotted eagle ray. 5 minutes away there was a lagoon where you could go snorkeling. If you needed groceries, it was 1/2 hour walk away and there was a good variety of restaurants. I would highly recommend this location for its' cleanliness, oceanview, friendly staff, landscaping, variety of birds in the morning.

We had a fantastic stay at La Sirena. The house was spotless when we arrived and the property is impeccably maintained. Alfredo greeted us and was so helpful and very sweet. The maid service was great as well. We were well taken care of. Our beds were made each day, trash was taken out, water filled up but the service wasn't at all intrusive. The view from the living room and master is gorgeous. As a previous reviewer mentioned, the master is open to the living room (and beachfront views) but can closed with shutters. Plenty private for us and the master was pretty baby friendly for our 1 year old to hang out. The kitchen was well stocked and we made good use of the Foreman Grill. The screened in patio was also a nice feature but there was usually enough of a breeze off of the bay to keep the bugs away. The outdoor spaces were lush and tropical and the beach was always raked and perfect. There was quite a bit of seaweed that was covering the beaches from Playa Del Carmed to Tulum but the oceanfront was very clear in front of the house. We did some snorkeling out front and saw quite a few fish and there are still some healthy coral heads out there. The location is really close to Yal Ku. We didn't make it this trip but I hear it's great. There are quite a few good restaurants in the way to the condo. Our favorite was La Buena Vida. It's an easy bike, drive or walk from the house and has a great setting and good food. I should mention that you do have to be careful about leaving food out or you're going to have ants. I grew up in the tropics so this wasn't a surprise. No matter how clean the place, "if you leave it, they will come"... My dad's saying!

I'm hesitant to write a review because I want to keep this little slice of heaven all to myself!!! We love Akumal and discovered LaSirena many years ago. We try to spend 2-3 weeks every spring in this absolute paradise and Buena Vista #4 is our favorite unit @ LaSirena! The owner & management are super responsive and helpful, housekeepers are wonderful, the unit itself is great... spacious with super comfortable beds w/ nice linens, fun authentic Mexican decor. We're cooks, so love that the kitchen is super well equipped. As nice as the unit is inside, the OUTSIDE is the icing on the cake! Ocean front patio w/ big dining table a few steps to the sand and shady palapas! Lovely sitting area off 2nd BR overlooking the stunning gardens and pool area. Swimming and snorkeling couldn't be better! Bring water shoes as it's a little rocky walking out. Sargassum was less everywhere this year, but has NEVER been a problem at LaSirena (NO sargassum because of where property is situated on half-moon bay. We LOVE Buena Vista!!!
