There are two areas to dispose of garbage.

Hall closet trash can

1. This is where all glass is placed. No glass can go in the kitchen trash compactor, as the glass will be crushed and cause the garbage bags to rip and leak.

2. The hall closet shelf has plenty of trash bags. You are welcome to use them for any purpose,.

Kitchen trash compactor

1. The kitchen trash compactor uses special bags. These bags should be used for the compactor only, and not for other purposes. The hall closet trash bags should be used for everything else.

2. The compactor bags are located under the kitchen sink.

How to use the trash compactor

1. To open the trash compactor, gently step on the foot lever. (in pic above).

2. To close the trash compactor, gently close with your hands.

3. To crush the garbage: place your foot under the foot lever. Lift your foot upwards until you hear the compactor working.

Note: the compactor won't crush until the garbage reaches about half full. So, it's not necessary to compact the garbage before it reaches that point.

How to change out the compactor bag

1. When the compactor is open, you can pull the bag right out–unless it is packed very full.

2. If packed very full, press the release on the side of the basket. This will open the basket allowing more room to lift the trash bag out.

3. When putting a fresh compactor bag in, be sure to click the release back in place so the basket fully closes.

What to do with the trash

You should not need to take any trash to the dumpster unless the compactor becomes too full during your stay. Housekeeping will take care of taking off any trash on your day of depature.

Should you need to take off any trash during your stay, you are welcome to use the dumpster rented by Carl and his neighbor.

Carl will also take off any kitchen trash for you during your stay. Just text me when the trash is full and I will arrange for him to stop by and pick it up.

The most important thing is to not leave any trash outside or in your vehicle, as bears may be able to smell it.
