Things I expected to find when I headed down to Ludlow for a trio of meals and an overnight: good food, a hip new motel to sleep in and a scenic hike to balance out the eating.

click to enlarge Ludlow's Homestyle Hostel has a full restaurant but not much room to sit and have a drink. So owners Eliza Greene and Justin Hyjek, who opened the hostel in 2013, decided to open a bar and 13-room motel across the street at 112 Main.

"....but not much room to sit and have a drink." Poppycock! Who is the person who wrote that!? Let us at Vermont Cottage Lake Amherst set you straight! We would never send our guests to a place without seating. Sheesh! Not to mention the outside fire pit!

Before heading over to HomeStyle Hostel Restaurant & Inn for a birthday celebration, we had signature cocktails at Main & Mountain Bar. When it was time to eat, we simply crossed the street to enjoy a fabulous dinner together. .....homestyle!

The river burbling from Lake Rescue runs south toward Okemo Mountain Resort, then arcs behind Ludlow's Main Street. On the edge of that river stands a hostel, though you might not be able to tell from the outside.

The hostel offers up hostel accommodations with two  6-bunkbed rooms that are shared. Perfect for a family or group of 12 starting at about $45/pp/night. Yogurt, granola, coffee/tea for breakfast the last timeI checked.  

If the bunkbeds are not what you are looking for, they have rooms upstairs and across the street at Main & Mountain Motel. We will show you that later!

If you prefer a whole home stay.....We have priced our home competitively with local hotels and hostels. You will pay about $55/pp/night at the local hostel and will share the bunkbed room with 5 other people paying the same. The local inn charges about $236/room/double occupancy. We are a bit more that a hostel (not much) and a lot less than the close by inn. In addition to a bedroom in our cottage, you also have the amenities of a home and privacy. 

This place is magical! I had anticipated our stay for so long and it exceeded my expectations in eve... ry way. The house is VERY spacious and offers every sort of convenience imaginable. Even found a supply of tiki torches for the yard in the shed!
