Important Information About The Internet, Streaming, And DVD Player

Techy things you may need to know for your stay at Clover's Cottage:

General Guidelines

• IMPORTANT - Children may not use any equipment. Parental supervision is required.
• DO NOT change or move any equipment. DO NOT add any gaming or other equipment.
• Guests are reminded to bring their own Bluetooth speakers and other technology devices that are important to them during their stay.
• Guests are reminded to bring their login information for any streaming services they want to enjoy during their stay. Guests that utilize cable or satellite providers at home should bring their login information as well, as these logins will give them access to their content when streaming at Clover's Cottage (e.g. - bring your DirecTV login information so that you can stream ABC, Bravo, or HGTV, for example).

Internet/Wi-fi

• We enjoy fiber internet service with a speed stated to average 500 Mbps which is generally sufficient to enjoy watching HD content on three or more devices simultaneously (we are tickled pink to have this unlimited data service available, as there was no service other than 30 GB a MONTH of data through satellite services up until 2023 - and it was double the price we now pay!).
• The password is posted on the wall beside the TV (located in the sitting room on the 2nd floor).
• Problems with wi-fi? Let us know. We have the ability to do a remote reset of the router, which usually resolves any problems you might have. Alternatively, we may ask you to do a reset onsite.
• The router and service connectivity equipment are located in the side bedroom. Please do not touch these devices.
• Although very reliable in our area, access to the internet is provided by Frontier Communication and cannot be guaranteed. Additionally, service response times cannot be guaranteed. Guests are reminded that because cellular service is generally very limited in our little valley, any hotspots you bring may not be a reliable alternative for internet service. There are a few local businesses with wifi service available as a backup if Frontier is unable to provide service during your stay.

Cellular Serivce

• The most reliable way to make and receive phone calls is via Wi-Fi calling.
• Welcome to rural USA! There is very little cell service inside the cottage. Depending on your provider and other mysterious factors, sometimes guests report the ability to get some cell service on the 2nd floor of the cottage, on the deck, or in the front yard, but we can make no promises.
• Come prepared with knowledge of your own phone's ability to turn on wifi-calling (Most phones have this feature, and it is usually as easy to set up as an option to select in "Settings---->Connections--->Wi-Fi Calling".

Television Options

• We have two Roku televisions at Clover's Cottage.
• There is a 40" TV in the cozy 2nd-floor sitting room, perfect to get the kids to curl up on a rainy day for some quiet entertainment.
• There is a 55" TV in the massive primary bedroom, with sufficient room to invite the entire family for movie night.
• The TVs should be operated ONLY with the remotes. Do not touch the TV itself.
• The TV connections are as follows: HDMI 1 is the Roku setting, and in the sitting room, HDMI 2 is for the DVD player.
• Use the Roku remote to turn on the TV and control the volume. The ONLY time you will need to use the TV remote is to change the SOURCE back to HDMI 1 after watching a DVD.

Roku Streaming

• Content is via a Roku Express 4k Plus. It has a remote that also has voice-control capabilities.
• Guests may use and load any Apps available on Roku Express.
• Upon first use of Roku on the TV, guests will be prompted to log into "Guest Mode". You will enter your date of departure so that your login information will be automatically cleared on the date of your departure, or manually whenever you want.

This is the Roku welcome screen upon arrival. Once you log in and enter your departure date, Roku will automatically clear your login data from the system.

DVD Player

• The DVD player should be operated ONLY with the remote control.
• DVDs are located in the sitting room in the antique cabinet under the TV. DO NOT let children handle/remove/replace the DVDs.
