Frequently Asked Questions
Houfy requires a one-time verification fee for new hosts to ensure trust, authenticity, and platform integrity. However, because you're joining Houfy through one of our integrated software partners (such as a PMS or channel manager), you are automatically verified through your existing partner relationship. As a result, this step is waived for you—you do not need to pay the verification fee. You're good to go!
When you list your property on Houfy, you receive payments directly from your guests via Stripe or Square, both of which are trusted and secure payment platforms. With no middleman involved, your payments are instant—no waiting for a third party to release funds. This means more control over your finances and faster access to your earnings.
The API fee is a booking-specific fee that only applies to listings connected through a Property Management System (PMS) or channel manager. It is charged to the guest at the time of booking and is capped at 5% of the total booking value. This fee is not a commission—it exists solely to help us cover the ongoing costs of supporting and maintaining the API connection with your software partner. Unlike traditional platforms that take 15–20% in service and commission fees, Houfy’s model keeps your earnings intact while offering guests a more affordable booking experience.
We understand that protecting your property is a top priority. That's why Houfy offers industry-leading damage deposit options through our houfyProtect program in partnership with Truvi. Instead of requiring a large upfront damage deposit, with houfyProtect, you can get up to $20,000 in damage coverage for each approved booking. A small nightly fee is added to the guest’s booking, making it an affordable and easy way to safeguard your property without deterring potential guests. In the rare event of damages, you can easily file a claim and let our partner, Truvi, handle the rest.
With Houfy, your property gets strong exposure through our growing community of travelers and hosts. Unlike traditional listing sites that limit communication, Houfy empowers you to connect directly with guests, increasing your chances of repeat bookings. That being said, the most successful hosts also promote their listings through personal marketing efforts. As Houfy expands, so do your opportunities for more bookings.
Yes! Houfy allows you to create a custom rental agreement to ensure that you and your guests are on the same page regarding the property's rules and expectations. Whether it's a security deposit policy, house rules, or check-in/check-out times, you can tailor the agreement to meet your needs. Having a custom rental agreement also helps protect your property, ensuring that you are legally covered in case of any damages or disputes.
