The kitchen is fully equipped for any cook- fully stocked with appliances, coffee maker, pots, pans, utensils, a blender and a lobster pot. The deck off the kitchen has a porch swing and overlooks the canal.
Twin bedroom also has a futon sleeper sofa. Children’s movie library, books, and a few toys will keep the little ones entertained on rainy beach days.

Sound Sunset Views in Beautiful Southern Shores

This 2000 square foot house sits on a quiet wooded lot in prestigious Southern Shores, just 3 miles from the village of Duck and 1.5 miles from the ocean beach by car or an easy 1 mile walk. Paddle our canoe on the canal out back or relax in a front porch rocker or hammock while watching the sound sunset or just sit on the porch swing taking in the sounds of nature. Bikes, canoe, 2 parking passes for private Southern Shores Beach, tennis/ pickleball court, and marina privileges are all included.

The space
Multiple decks, including a Crows Nest, allow for sunbathing, sunset viewing, outdoor dining, etc. Shaded screen porch with porch swing overlooking canal. Fully equipped kitchen. Flat screen tv in living room with dvd/vcr. 3/4 bedrooms have TVs with DVD player. Book and dvd/ vhs library available. Other amenities include a gas grill, outdoor shower, canoe, bikes for adults and kids (including toddler bike seat), high chair, portable crib with sheets.

We do not rent to high school or college groups. Minimum age of primary renter is 25.

Guest access
Guests will have the entire house with access to canoe and bicycles (condition not guaranteed) beach parking passes, marina, and community tennis and pickleball court. NO RV PARKING IS PERMITTED ON THIS PROPERTY.

Other things to note
To walk to beach just turn right out of driveway, walk about 1/2 mile, then turn right onto sandy access road (has a chain across it blocking cars). Turn left onto Hillcrest and continue down hill to the stoplight. Cross highway 12 to Hillcrest Beach access.

Address can be found via GPS. If you are arriving from points west or north, directions are as follows:

TAKE I-64 EAST TO I-664. THIS TURNS BACK INTO I-64 EAST FOR VIRGINIA BEACH. CONTINUE ON I-64 TO EXIT FOR NAGS HEAD WHICH WILL BE US HIGHWAY 168 SOUTH. THIS WILL BECOME 158 WHEN YOU GET INTO NORTH CAROLINA. CROSS THE WRIGHT MEMORIAL BRIDGE OVER THE CURRITUCK SOUND AND GO TO THE 2ND TRAFFIC LIGHT AND TURN LEFT (YOU WILL SEE KITTY HAWK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL). THIS WILL BE S. DOGWOOD TRAIL. CONTINUE ON THIS STREET FOR 2.9 MILES. THE HOUSE (274 N. DOGWOOD TRAIL) WILL BE ON YOUR RIGHT. THE DRIVEWAY IS JUST AT THE END OF THE DIVIDED ROADWAY. IT IS ADVISABLE TO HAVE A FLASHLIGHT TO SEE THE NUMBERS ON THE LOCKBOX.

IF YOU WANT TO AVOID THE TOLL AND A POSSIBLE BACKUP ON 168 HERE ARE THE DIRECTIONS FOR THAT: FROM 168 TAKE EXIT 8B (“LAST EXIT BEFORE TOLL”) . AT THE END OF EXIT, TURN RIGHT AND PROCEED ON 168 BUSINESS UNTIL YOU RETURN TO 168. (ABOUT 3 ½ MILES OR SO).
