When the weather cooperates put your feet up in the hammock and watch the sheep graze nearby, the blue heron land in Marsh Creek, deer and fox frolicking in the surrounding fields, and the birds singing in the trees. We are sticklers for cleanliness. All of our beds and pillows have protective covers, as well as the mattresses, and our bedding is completely changed after each guest (including comforters). The cottage sits across from Marsh Creek (the very creek Gen. Robert E. Lee and his fighting forces retreated over in 1863) and between 2 picturesque farms so if peace, quiet and some nature are in order, you’ll love Blue Coat Cottage!We have a small sloped driveway to the left of the cottage large enough for 2 vehicles. We regularly park an SUV and pickup truck in the driveway. Should you need more room you are welcome to park across the street in the grass, but please note that property does not belong to us.This 114-year-old home, situated between two farms and surrounded by fields, with a view of the creek where General Robert E. Lee and his forces retreated on July 4, 1863, has low ceilings. Tall individuals should exercise caution when navigating the stairwell landing. Due to its rural location, insects may occasionally make their way inside, particularly if the back door is left open for extended periods. While regular pest control measures are in place, the longer the back door is open, the greater the likelihood of insects entering the cottage.
