The apartment is located in the Latin Quarter on the Left Bank of the Seine in Paris in the 5th district, and in the north and east du6e district, with historic heart Sorbonne. This district takes its name from the use exclusive of Latin in courses given by schools and medieval universities established in the neighborhood.
The Latin Quarter is one of the world's most famous districts of Paris. It spans the 5th and 6th arrondissements, with the heart of the Sorbonne district and St. Genevieve. It is crossed by the ""cardo de Paris"", the north-south axis corresponding to the present Rue Saint-Jacques and Boulevard Saint-Michel.
It is a further area popular with students and teachers, due to the presence of many academic institutions: the University of the Sorbonne, University of Paris II Panthéon Assas, the Jussieu campus ...
Several large schools are also installed in the neighborhood: the Ecole Normale Superieure, Fine Arts, ESPCI ParisTech ...
The area also has many secondary schools, often prestigious and historic Louis-le-Grand, Fenelon, Henri IV, Saint Louis ... Consequently, many specialized bookstores in literature, science, history, medicine , politics, philosophy, law are in the area, although they tend to disappear.
In the 1960s and especially during the events of May 1968, this area was one of the nerve centers of the various student protest movements.
The area is very safe. There are a lot of bars, cafés, restaurants around - it is really the place where you want to spend your evening in Paris, either that you choose Café Flore or the pubs on Rue Princesse.
