Both Marketing and Sales 101 talk about A.I.D.A. This stands for Attention; Interest; Desire and Action. We call this 'the buying cascade'. It applies across the board to any purchasing behavior and is firmly rooted in many years of research in Marketing Psychology.

In digital (online) marketing it is commonly accepted that you have just 6 seconds to capture someones interest. If you don't give them what they are looking for in this time they will scroll away. This applies to your Houfy Listing as well!

Let's break it down and see how A.I.D.A applies to your Listing.

Attention

When potential guests are presented with a display of listings that meet their search criteria, you catch their attention with your first photo, overall rating, number of bedrooms/bathrooms and the first 32 characters of your title. That's your first opportunity to even get someone to even LOOK at your listing so it is essential here to speak to what it is THEY are looking for.

And given established research that approximately 91% of people who search on google don't move past the first page, it is likely that a similar percentage respond the same way on Houfy.

Interest

Your 6 seconds are already ticking!!! Your Top 5 photos and first paragraph of your Description need to nail What's In It for Them in order to capture their interest so they explore your listing in more detail.

Desire

Desire is created through the presentation (including the order) of your photos and how you describe your offering through the description and captions. Remember guests are looking at your listing with a "whats in it for me" attitude so you need to know how to target these desires. The right wording and images has been shown to activate the dopamine centres of the brain so it is really powerful!

Action

If the 'buying cascade' of your listing presentation works effectively the guests will smoothly transition to Book.
