We want everyone to be able to use Houfy — to search, to read a listing, to message a host, and to complete a booking — whatever device or assistive technology they use.

What we work to

We work to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. That is the standard most accessibility law now refers to, and it is what we measure ourselves against.

We are not there on every page. Where we fall short we want to know, and we fix what we can as we go rather than waiting for a redesign.

What that means in practice

  • pages that work with a keyboard alone, not only a mouse

  • text that meets contrast requirements, and that resizes without breaking the layout

  • images carrying meaningful alternative text

  • forms with labels that screen readers announce properly

  • headings and structure that let assistive technology navigate a page

Listings are written by hosts

Much of what you read on Houfy — listing descriptions, photo captions, house rules — is written by hosts, not by us. We ask hosts to write clearly and to describe accessibility features accurately, and our Photo Guidelines cover alternative text for images.

If a listing does not tell you what you need to know about access, message the host before booking. If a host has described a property inaccurately, tell us.

Tell us when something does not work

This is the part that matters most to us. If you hit a barrier on Houfy, email info@houfy.com and tell us:

  • what you were trying to do

  • the page or link where it happened

  • the browser, device and any assistive technology you were using

We aim to reply within one business day, and we will tell you what we can do and when. If something blocks you from completing a booking, say so — we will find another way to get it done for you in the meantime.

Booking help

If you cannot complete something on the site, contact us and we will help you do it directly. You should not lose a booking because a page did not work.
