You can mingle with the students, enjoy the ancient and historical buildings, the quirky shops. pubs and byways, the relaxing river, garden, parks and musical events, or the gourmet restaurants of Oxford. If you like quirky, head up the hill to Headington for this pretty amazing piece of sculpture in my photo below, by someone with a bizarre sense of humour. The local council tried to remove it but it has now been here for many many years.

In Ilmington – The community shop (staffed by volunteers) on Grump Street. Sited in the old Catholic Church on the Upper Green. Open from 7.30 in the morning. Fresh local vegetables and meat. Fruit, all everyday items. Newspapers etc. Freshly baked croissants every morning. There is a café attached.
