Do I have to set seasonal rates?

No. Houfy offers seasonal rates to give owners more control and flexibility with their pricing. You can skip right over the seasonal rates section.
The only rate you must set is a base rate - a nightly price, or a weekly or monthly price, or prices entered directly on your calendar. Any one of those is enough to publish the listing.
Many hosts set their base rate to their highest holiday rate as a safety net, in case a season is not in place when a guest books. That is worth doing, because a season applies only to the exact dates you gave it and does not repeat the following year. Once its end date passes your base rate takes over again, so a season you set two years ago is no longer protecting anything.
If you skip seasons you still keep your minimum stay (Pricing > Rates & Fees > Minimum Stay), your length-of-stay discounts (Pricing > Discounts) and any price you type on an individual calendar date. What seasons add is a rate, a minimum and maximum stay, weekend pricing, changeover days and an extra-guest fee that all apply to one specific date range.
One ordering point if you decide to use both: set the season first, then adjust individual calendar dates inside it. Saving a season rewrites every date in its range, so daily prices you entered beforehand are overwritten.
