To answer this question, we need to take you back to April 2019, two months before we finalised our purchase, and moved into our new home. We had booked an appointment to meet the Mairie of Tourouzelle. One of our questions was: could we call the house 'Maison du Minervois', because the address in Boulevard du Minervois and the wine region is named Minervois. The answer was simply 'No.' (Our Mairie has the copywrite for Maison du Minervois as a tourism site.) So we asked him if he had any suggestions. He then said Maison du Coquelicot. The reason was easy...

Tourouzelle, the name of our ville, means 'tous' lots and 'rouge' red...lots of red. In the Spring there are hundreds of poppies in the vineyards and fields. The French word for poppy is 'Coquelicot'.

So to now to answer the original question, 'Why are the bedrooms named after French artists?' We decided to pay tribute to the French artists who painted coquelicots (poppies). Hence the reason for choosing: Monet, Renoir and Delpy...though we will need to find another name for the last bedroom, once it has had a makeover!
