This region can be described as absolutely sun safe, the sun shines at least 3 - 5 hours per day. Trade winds blow all year round, so the climate is dry and it rains very rarely. EL Médano, also called Surfcity, is the windiest place in Tenerife.

The wind usually blows stronger than 4 BfT. Windy days usually reach 5 - 7 BfT and peaks of 9 - 11 Bft. The wind comes side-shore here and the wave reaches 1.50m to 2.50m. The spot is suitable for fun surfing, jumping and kiting.

The apartment Barraquito is located in a very good and central position. You just cross the street and go down some steps and you are already at the beautiful beach of El Médano. Also for surfers the apartment offers optimal possibilities.

The modern kitchen has everything you need for cooking. The bedroom has a double bed. The living room has a comfortable sofa bed, which offers a comfortable sleeping accommodation for 2 more persons.

The apartment is located in a new and well-kept house. In the living room our guests can relax and watch TV in comfort.

In the evenings you can end the day with a glass of wine on the beautiful terrace and enjoy the view of the sea.

El Médano has meanwhile developed from a former small fishing village to an aspiring community. The village is not a tourist stronghold. The holiday guests still get lost among the local Tinofenos.

There are supermarkets, nice cafes, bistros and restaurants. Fish lovers will get their money's worth here. At the pier and in the centre you can enjoy fresh fish and seafood at reasonable prices. The Plaza 'El Médano' is located directly on the city beach. Here, in the evenings, the real life takes place between locals and tourists. The Playa Médano is 2 km long, starts at the plaza and ends in the south in front of the red mountain, the Montana Roja. Behind it, there is the Playa de Tejita that is 3 km long with coarse grained sand and a nudist beach.

To the pure tourist places Los Christianos and Playa de las Americas, one gets to the motorway in approximately 20 minutes. The airport Tenerife South ( Reina Sofia) is located approximately 5 km away from El Médano. You can reach the airport in about 10 minutes.

If the wind does not blow from the right direction, the bay offers possibilities for diving and snorkeling in the varied water underworld. Diving and snorkeling courses are also offered. Also for bikers there are very good sport offers. Whether without a guide or with the experienced biker boys from the bike-shop medanobike, the surroundings and the island can be explored wonderfully. The bikes can be parked safely.

The beach is only 2 minutes away on foot. Shopping facilities are also nearby, you can fetch bread rolls on foot and then have breakfast together outside on the terrace. The climate is mild and warm all year round.
