One of the archaeological attractions is the Grangela, a filtering well used to supply the ancient city; it stretches vertically for 12 metres and then continues in a shaft that crosses the rock with a small tunnel 2 metres high and 7 metres wide. At the bottom of the basin are three pits to which the water collected through four catchment tunnels flows. Inside one of the pits, a number of artefacts from the Hellenistic period have been found.The Grangela is, for the people of Licata, a place of myth, and various legends and tales are linked to it.
