Terra Chã, one of the newest parishes on Terceira Island, manages to bring together a number of reasons to face the future with optimism. From the past it draws the exemplary rural structure that the pastoral tradition consecrates; to the future it offers the comfortable urban proximity, the cleanliness of its wide and well-designed streets, the possibility of expansion and the landscape setting. Slightly set back from the sea (which is rare in the settlement of the Azores), it lies on the periphery of the inland areas, close to the city and near the forests and interior, with pleasant views, at a medium altitude, over a sunset that gives Terceira a charming location and proximity to the "heart" of the archipelago, the Pico-São Jorge-Faial area. This proximity and the outline of São Jorge and Pico on the maritime horizons of Terra Chã is part of the archipelago concept. The inland areas – the forest, the Serra (Santa Bárbara), the greens made up of various greens and browns that climb the slope. With some goodwill, in a pleasantly exaggerated and forgivable way, it is called the Sintra of Terceira.
