Enjoy the HEAT at Parkway Peek

Is it 10 degrees outside and the power is out? No worries, you'll be warm & toasty at Parkway Peek. Why? Because our cabin relies on wood-burning stoves for the main source of heat (and we have PLENTY of wood waiting for you). Did you know that a wood-burning stove warms an area faster and more efficiently than central air? The powerful heat from a wood stove radiates from all sides of the unit as well as the top, sending warmth in all directions. Most guests only need to use the downstairs stove during their stay. Oh, and as an added bonus, you can cook on it!

Some guests are initially concerned about how to light a wood-burning stove. Our answer: if you can light a fire in a fireplace or a fire pit, you can light these stoves. Others, with young children, are concerned about the safety. Like any other heating source, parents must be careful to keep children away from the actual units. But unlike other heating sources, our wood-burning stoves are self-contained, sealed units that do not have exposed heating elements. There is also no danger of a leaky gas valve, explosion nor being knocked-over.
