Have you ever been to Marrakech?

Did you know the idea of Houfy was created there? Marrakech is a lovely place a few hours south of Casablanca, Morocco.

Cristina and Thijs moved to Marrakech August 2008 and lived there for 7 Years.

Did you know prices are hardly ever shown anywhere in Marrakech? When you enter the Marrakech market "Souk" you will have to discuss the price with the seller. This discussion can sometimes be a lengthy process, with in many cases the seller closing the door on you or feeling defeated by selling you the carpet or lamp for such a discounted price..

Once you feel you got the deal of the century, by buying that 142 year old lamp the rare antique lamp and arrive home you realize the lamp is not at all antique and you just got "tricked"..

The seller is having a great party with his friends and family.

Dealing/discussing & finding the right price is an extremely difficult and lengthy process. To really "know" the prices, you will have to have lived there or know locals.

The experience Cristina and Thijs had in Marrakech was wonderful but very very tiring. Never again will they deal for a carpet or an "antique" lamp again if the price is wrong.
