🚗 Getting Around

For families, renting a car is highly recommended. It gives you freedom to explore Arecibo and nearby attractions comfortably with kids, luggage, or beach gear. Free private and off street parking is available.

Car rental: Available locally (e.g., Global Car Rental) or through Uber Rent. SUVs, vans, and car seats often available.

Uber/taxi: Uber works in Arecibo but can have delays. Schedule in advance with Uber Reserve. Taxis are limited and best if pre-booked.

Public transport: Buses (guaguas) are unreliable and not family-friendly.

Private tours: Family-friendly vans with drivers available for excursions to beaches, caves, and the Arecibo Observatory.

Most attractions (beaches, caves, lighthouse) are 3–10 minutes by car.
