It was originally lit by burning buckets of lard and then kerosene, but today it is lit by a1000 watt light bulb. The Lighthouse and Keeper's Quarters in St. Augustine is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Be sure to visit this piece of history and climb the 219 steps to the top for breathtaking views of St. Augustine, the beaches, and our nation's oldest port. There is also a wonderful museum and restored keeper's cottage.
