The History of Vermont Cottage

Howard Armstrong from Bennington, Vermont was a young attorney who moved to Ludlow to join a law firm and practice law. His first case was representing a chicken thief. The chicken thief won his case, but Howard said, "He was guilty as hell." Howard became best friends with Earle Brown from Plymouth. Earle's sister Margaret, a school teacher, was riding with her boyfriend and Howard was hitch hiking. Margaret asked her boyfriend to pick him up. He didn't want to and history proves why. Margaret & Howard fell in love and were married on July 20, 1929 at The Echo Lake Inn.
