My family stayed at Emerald Escape for a last summer getaway and we had a blast. The home is beautiful, inviting, and exactly as described in pictures. There was 14 guests in my family and the house didn’t seem crowded at all. Still very spacious and comfortable. You can tell the hosts are passionate about their home. They really thought of everything when it comes to accommodation to amenities that creates that provides for an incredible stay! They have even partnered with some chefs who can cook a meal for you. We used Chef Dan and he was delightful. The home is right on the resort so attractions were a stone throw away. We did 2 attractions but staying indoors was just as good. Erika was a very responsive host from start to finish. It didn’t matter what time, she responded promptly within minutes. Thank you for helping my family create a memory that will stay with us for a lifetime.

This place was the perfect two day stay for me and my fiancé before heading off to Lockn’ Festival. Only 25 minutes from the festival grounds, and secluded enough in the woods. Pure silence at night, except for the peepers which is so relax. Our host was wonderful! She answered any question we had while still respecting your privacy, and checked in on us (via message) to make sure our stay was up to our standards. The place was super clean, smelt great (just like a woody cabin), and so much attention to small details to make your stay easy. You really only need to show up with your clothes and any food you want to eat, that’s it. Gold star for this awesome spot and can’t wait to hopefully return. - Anybody going to Lockn Festival in the future years: this is the perfect couple night stay before the festival. Wood Ridge Brewery was super cool, only 15 mins away. And the ladies who work at the Exxon gas station (15 mins away off of 29) were so nice to us, and literally made us the most bomb breakfast sandwiches on biscuits! Perfect stop before heading off to Lockn’!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

Family from VA, Connecticut and North Carolina gathered for a football game getaway weekend. We enjoyed reuniting at this wonderful retreat!!! Games, wine by the fireside, great conversations and memories made. Plenty of space for this party of 9 adults and 5 kids from infant to teen!!! Didn’t have to make beds or run out for the basics!! House was clean and stocked with coffee, tea, half & half, cleaning supplies for dishes. We were pleased and overwhelmed by the generosity of the homeowners. Family plans to rent again soon for Friendsgiving!!!!

Excellent location and home. Would stay here again and again. We spent a day skiing, a day in Charlottesville, and then a day hiking and just enjoying the house when ski slopes were mostly closed due to a week of warm weather. Views are amazing, very short walk with skis to blue level slope and easy to leave slope with lift and gentle short slope to exit point. Bedrooms face west side of house, so easy to sleep in. Dining window faces East, so you can enjoy sunrise and back of house (a wall of windows plus a deck) is south facing, so all day sun and beautiful sunset views of mountains from kitchen, dining, main living room, and primary bedroom. Comfortable couches in main living area, wood burning fireplace and outdoor fire pit that we didn’t use. Carpet in bedrooms and stairs/loft could use update. Loft is ideal for kids/teens and we all watched a movie together there, by request of our son. Good selection of board games. We had a lovely stay! Thank you for sharing your home!!

From the minute you turn onto the winding driveway at the entrance of "H'Owl at the Moon", you begin to experience a truly unique, tranquil, and relaxing escape from the stresses of life. The anticipation of seeing the cabin come in to view, and even more exciting, walking through the front door to a charming, well-appointed, adorably decorated home was just the beginning of our special getaway. It was like a treasure hunt going through the cabin, finding all the owls (be sure to read The Enigma of the Owl), discovering the turntable and all the wonderful albums, perusing the extensive collection of DVDs and books, and endless thoughtful touches throughout. Bill even has an iPod on a docking station in the bedroom for listening to music, although we preferred the open windows and listening to the frogs and other outdoor sounds. We cooked out on the charcoal grill, made a bonfire in the fire pit both nights, gazed at the stars, and enjoyed being completely isolated except for the two little black kitty's that were frolicking about. We loved sitting on the front porch waiting for the hummingbirds to keep coming to the feeder. During the day, we explored the surrounding trails and made our way to the waterfall and went for a swim. Even during this time of COVID we managed to go strawberry picking nearby (socially distanced), and picked up a growler at Wild Wolf Brewing curbside. The bed is super comfortable which is something I always appreciate. It's also really nice that there are spices and condiments to use - the kitchen has everything you need. I cannot say enough good things about this house. The cabin is very modern and sparkling clean. It seems like it’s new. We’re a family of four with two doggies and we were very comfortable in it. The location is perfect, there’s other cabins around but they are not so close. The beds are very comfy. There’s even shampoo, conditioner and body wash in the bathroom. You have everything you need for cooking. There’s even a ninja blender for smoothies. The tvs and Netflix is a plus with kids and teens. The deck is big and beautiful with a view of the river and the enclosed area was perfect for our doggies who enjoy sun bathing in the deck. All you need to bring is food and drinking water because they provided all the basic things. The river is super clean but bring water shoes so you’re able to walk on the rocks. We brought a raft and we were dropped off at the bridge. It took us about half an hour to make it to the cabin and it was really enjoyable seeing the fish, turtles, deer and hares. There’s big fish around the bridge if you want to go fishing. The fire pit was a hit with my kids who enjoyed roasting marshmallows every night. Wood is provided. There is a big dollar general store about 15 minutes away where you can find groceries and anything else you might need. We cannot wait to come back to this house! We’ve been to many cabins in the area but this one is our favorite and this part of the Shenandoah river is so much cleaner and nicer. I would give it ten stars if I could. Our group LOVED this house. We love to cook and this kitchen was a dream. It's spacious and so well stocked. I often need to bring spices with me, but this place has all the standard stuff. There's also every pot, pan, or dish you could possibly need, including a hand mixer and a blender. They spared no expense on the linens for the bedrooms and bathrooms; my partner even commented about how nice the towels were. The bedrooms are very spacious, so no one felt like they got "the bad room" or anything like that. It's so close to places to hike and the animals next door were just adorable. I go on an annual trip with this group of friends and we usually pick a different places each time, but several of us said that we might just come back to this one next year because we liked it so much. The host is also INCREDIBLY responsive. We had some (user-related) issues with the front door lock and someone came out and taught us how to do it properly. 100% recommend this spot!!!!

Beautiful and Unique Location! I was very happy with how Ian’s cabin exactly matched the description in the app. The view from the porch is truly stunning and a great way to take in the Shenandoah area without needing to drive anywhere if you’d prefer to remain at the cabin. Everything in the cabin was clean and functional. The kitchen appliances and equipment were all in good condition and made making a meal an enjoyable experience. Considering the very private and rural location of the cabin, I found the short 20 minute drive into the town of Luray very convenient. The road leading to the cabin is mostly dirt, steep in some parts and absolutely requires a 4WD/AWD vehicle, but becomes fairly easy after driving it a couple of times (watch for deer!). There were several lady bugs in the house and a couple of beetles, but nothing I wouldn’t expect from a cabin in the woods. Expect to see some wildlife. Highly recommended! Would definitely stay here again!
