Celebrating Hallowbaloo: A Community Tradition in Carlton Landing
Discover the origins and spirit of Hallowbaloo with Gail Rose.
The air is thick with anticipation as autumn approaches in Carlton Landing, and with it comes the cherished tradition of Hallowbaloo. Gail Rose, a long-time resident and real estate broker, shares the heartwarming story of this community event that has become a staple of fall festivities.
The Origins of Hallowbaloo
Gail first became part of Carlton Landing in 2019, drawn by her daughter's enrollment at Carlton Landing Academy. Her involvement blossomed when she took on the role of broker for the local real estate office. It was during this time that the idea of Hallowbaloo emerged from the need to bring the community together in celebration of the season.
> "Let's just call it Hallowbaloo," Gail recalls, noting how the name was inspired by a parade in Tulsa. The event aimed to revitalize community spirit, and it certainly has succeeded.
A Community Celebration
Originally, Hallowbaloo began as a chili potluck, where residents would gather to share their favorite recipes. As time went on, it evolved into a vibrant celebration incorporating trick-or-treating and a parade-like atmosphere. Gail notes how the event was designed to be inclusive, allowing families from nearby schools to partake in the fun, thus creating a safe environment for children to enjoy Halloween festivities.
> "It's such a lovely environment to feel like you're part of a neighborhood," Gail reflects on the unique closeness of the community.
The Spirit of Hallowbaloo Today
As Hallowbaloo has grown, so has the excitement surrounding it. Residents decorate their porches, don costumes, and participate in Fall Festival activities, all contributing to a sense of togetherness. Gail believes that this spirit of community and connection is what keeps Hallibaloo alive and thriving.
> "There's something about decorating the porches and getting outside that really brings everyone together," she explains.
Gail also emphasizes the importance of the Academy, highlighting how it serves as a central hub for the community, fostering a sense of belonging and continuity.
Looking Ahead
As we look to the future, Gail envisions Hallowbaloo expanding even further, with regular activities throughout October. "I dream big... I would love to see something happening every week," she says, illustrating her hope for continued growth and engagement in the community.
Reflecting on her journey, Gail expresses gratitude for the opportunity to be part of such a vibrant tradition, one that celebrates the joys of fall and the connections it fosters.
To truly appreciate Hallowbaloo, one must experience it firsthand. The warmth of the community, the laughter of children, and the joy of shared traditions make it a unique celebration that leaves a lasting impression.
