Most travellers coming to Kyrgyzstan are looking for unique experiences and this is a good start. We had a fantastic few days at Almaluu in Tong village. The yurts are large, clean and heated with powerful stoves. They are intricately decorated inside in national style and the whole experience was exactly what we were looking for. Although Eugen was not there at the time, his communication was great and the family that were working at the yurt camp were attentive, friendly and very receptive to their guests. The food was also a real highlight and they were accommodating to our diets. The location is stunning with colourful mountain scenery all around and it is great for the lake - a 10-15 minute walk straight down to a beach and rocky bay which is beautiful with the backdrop. The whole area is peaceful and uncrowded, and we would definitely stay again. Two things that should be noted - if you are coming by public transport like we were, do not get off the bus at Tong as it is a long walk. Go further along the main road and take a later turn, before walking approx. 2km to the Almaluu gate. Secondly, there are no shops or restaurants close to the camp. Although the food was amazing - fresh and homemade traditional dishes - the price of dinner each day was not mentioned before and it is assumed that everyone will eat with the host family. The cost was 7 euro (450-500 som) per person, per meal.
