Hey! We're Garrett and Alla and we're excited to host you at the Hohnstead!<br />
When we're not designing the next Scavenger Hunt for our guests, sharing stories by the campfire, or hanging out in the hot tub, Garrett loves to brew beer, play hockey, and lift weights, while Alla loves to do yoga, photograph The Hohnstead and its visitors, and brew Kombucha (flavor of the moment Hibiscus-Lavender). Together we built the Hohnstead from the ground up, creating the jobs and lifestyle we love and we're excited to share with you, helping you to Reconnect to Nature and to each other!

Free parking is available to all guests at The Commons Area.

We're happy to check you in person when you arrive, but based on prior experience a lot of guests choose to self-check in after a long day of driving or based on personal preference. Let us know which one you prefer, if not, we'll assume you'll find your way around with your helpful signs.

We are not setup for infants, toddlers or small children.  There is uneven terrain here. 
It's an issue of safety and we can't take on the additional liability. 

All of these amenities (and MORE) available in our communal kitchen available to all guests 24/7

Our property is only 25 minutes from Missoula, Montana but feels like in a land of its own.

Hot tub available anytime a day in 1-hour increments upon signup in the morning.  If no one has signed up, feel free to sit in it until you prune up!

$50 covers your entire stay each.  $50 PER pet.  2 pets max, please.

A-frame is off the grid and on solar panel but The Commons Area has WIFI and regular power.

Tucked into the woods on 100+ private acres, our iconic A-Frame Cabin is a guest favorite for a reason. With its lift-able translucent wall, forest views in every direction, and thoughtfully simple design, this cabin invites you to slow down, unplug, and reconnect—with nature, your partner, and the rhythm of the day.

Just 15 minutes from KettleHouse Amphitheater and 25 minutes from Missoula, this is a peaceful cabin that still keeps you close to great music, food, and adventure.

During your stay at The Hohnstead Glamping Cabins, you’ll have access to hiking trails, stargazing, our guest-favorite Scavenger Hunt Challenge, shared hot tub, outdoor games, and our cozy Commons Area Lounge.

WHAT YOULL LOVE ABOUT THE A-FRAME CABIN:
• Translucent lift-able wall for stargazing right from bed
• Two single beds that can be pushed together for cozy nights
• Simple kitchenette with camping stove, coffee & tea setup, and 2 gallons of water
• Two outdoor chairs + two hammocks nearby
• 360° forest views and frequent wildlife sightings
• Books and games for unplugged evenings
• Solar-powered DC electricity for charging small devices
• Free parking near the Commons Area

IS THE A-FRAME CABIN RIGHT FOR YOU?

This cabin is perfect for you if you:
• Love unique, thoughtfully designed spaces
• Want to stargaze, hike, and spend most of your time outdoors
• Are comfortable with solar power and shared amenities
• Don’t mind a short walk to the bathroom and Commons Area
• Are craving quiet, simplicity, and a slower pace

This cabin may not be the best fit if you:
• Need hotel-style luxury or private bathrooms
• Prefer constant power, climate control, or long hot showers
• Are uncomfortable with bugs, wildlife, or outdoor elements
• Want a fully serviced, city-style stay

SHARED SPACES AND AMENITIES:

The Commons Area Lounge, located about a 1-minute walk away, includes:
• WIFI & AC power
• Full shared kitchen
• Dining, lounging, and cozy gathering spaces
• BBQ nearby
• Local guides, games, and extra blankets

The shared hot tub is available daily via a sign-up board in 1-hour increments. If no one else is signed up, you’re welcome to soak longer—until you turn into a prune.

Bathrooms are enclosed, outdoor facilities with a short walk from the cabin.

Solar showers are available and weather-dependent. They heat from the sun, which means flexibility is part of the experience. It’s one of the small trade-offs of living simply in the mountains.

A FEW IMPORTANT NOTES:

• Pet-friendly (a $50 per pet, per stay cleaning fee applies; 2 pets max)
• Pets must be well-trained and comfortable around other guests and dogs
• Guests are required to sign a liability waiver at check-in (located in the Commons Area)
• This property is not suitable for children
• No outdoor fires allowed (Montana fire safety rules are strict)

Being in the mountains means sharing space with deer, elk, birds, and the occasional bug or mouse. We do our best to keep the cabins comfortable and critter-free, but nature is part of the magic here.

This isn’t a standard hotel stay—it’s an invitation to simplify, unplug, and let your day be guided by sunlight, fresh air, and quiet moments.
