Green Flag - Low Hazard

Green flags represents generally calm surf and currents. Swim with usual caution.

Flag-Yellow

Yellow Flag - Medium Hazard

Yellow flags represent moderate surf and/or currents. Swim with extra caution.

Flag-Red

Red Flag - High Hazard (NO SWIMMING)

Red flags represent high surf and/or dangerous currents. No swimming or wading in the Gulf of Mexico. *Entering the Gulf of Mexico to swim or wade during red flag conditions is illegal in Escambia County. Click here for more information.

Flag-Double-Red

Double Red Flag - WATER CLOSED

Double red flags are only used during hurricanes and other natural disasters. No swimming, wading, or surfing in the Gulf of Mexico. *Entering the Gulf of Mexico during double red flag conditions is illegal in Escambia County. Click here for more information.

Flag-Purple

Purple Flag - Dangerous Marine Life

Purple flags are flown when jellyfish, Portuguese man o' war, etc. are present. Exercise caution when in the water and/or along the shoreline.
