About Our House:
Relaxation awaits you at Wind Beneath My Wings, a charmingly updated original Holden Beach oceanfront duplex cottage. Here on the upper level youll find 3 bedrooms, two full baths, 4 flatscreen tvs with expanded cable , DVD player, ceiling fans in every room, and hardwood floors. All this is complimented by hand-rubbed whitewashed tongue and groove walls. The kitchen features an eat-in bar, and opens into a bright and cheery great room, perfect for gathering the family round for an evening of games or watching a favorite movie.

The Oceanside sunporch, furnished with rocking chairs, is THE place to catch the ocean breezes, taste the salt air, and delight in the antics of children playing in the ocean swells. Theres even a picnic table on the sunporch, a favorite place to enjoy lunchtime treats! This extra outdoor living space will greatly enhance your spring and autumn enjoyment of the beach.

Rainy day? No problem.... Curl up on the sunporch with a good book and cozy blanket. Let the sounds of the ocean wash over you. A bit cool? Lower the windows and let the sun's rays warm your heart as you watch the pelicans soar along the ocean shore. A private boardwalk takes you to the beach. And if you want a little quieter experience, check out the bistro table on the streetside porch. It features unobstructed views of the salt marsh beyond, and of the gorgeous sunsets over the intracoastal waterway.

We allow one small dog (under 45 pounds) with a non-refundable pet fee. Any additional pet(s) must be approved through property owner and will result in multiple pet fees. This fee is not to cover damages caused by a pet, but just covers the privilege of bringing them along on your vacation. Any cost resulting from damages, extra cleaning, fleas, odors, etc. that occur as a result from a pet being in a property will be deducted from your refundable security deposit.-Please pick up any and all pet waste after your pet whether on or off the rental property.-PUPPIES ARE NOT ALLOWED. -Nails must be clipped to avoid scratching damage.-The pet MUST be on a flea program, and owner must be able to provide evidence of such program if required. -The pet can NOT be left unattended.-The pet is NOT allowed on the furnishings or in/on bedding. -Pets are NOT allowed on the beach from May 20 to September 10, with the exception of the hours from 5:00 pm to 9:00 am.

We purchased this home when our children were young. We used the 2 bedroom downstairs ourselves and rented the 3 bedroom upper unit. We did not want to be in our renter's way, or make them overly aware of us. So we put in separate boardwalks, separate showers on each boardwalk, separate bench seating on the deck, and we insulated heavily between the floors. Our children grew up and had children of their own. We'd outgrown our cozy 2 bedroom unit. We then put in a spiral staircase that connects the two units, so it can be used as one 5 bedroom home with two living areas and two kitchens during the peak summer season when large combined families vacation together. We have a lock out door and insulation for the stairwell that we put in place during the spring and autumn. We've rented our lower unit and the upper unit simultaneously to unrelated parties for many years now. We have no problems or complaints about this arrangement from our renters who choose our home. Offering both units for rent simultaneously allows us to price very competitively. The VRBO listing number for the 2 bedroom 1 bath lowerr unit is 2003744. The VRBO listing number for the whole house (5 bedroom 3 bath, 2 kitchens, 2 living areas) is 869594.

About Holden Beach

Welcome to Holden Beach, North Carolina, where family values and old fashioned fun are still a part of your vacation. Holden Beach has a very small commercial area on the island. That point is considered by many to be a key reason to keep them coming back year after year. While there are limited commercial establishments on the island, everything one could desire is located within a short driving distance.

The causeway leading to the island contains numerous specialty stores and shops, and the Town of Shallotte just 10 minutes away has several chain grocery and department stores that provide all the necessities. Wilmington and Myrtle Beach are only 35-45 minutes away and if you cant find what youre looking for there, it doesn't exist.

There are over 125 superb golf courses within a one-hour drive from Holden Beach. Courses range from very challenging to user-friendly for golfers who dont always hit the ball where they want it to go. The Myrtle Beach area is perhaps the best region in the United States to find a course just right. Seasonal rates vary.

Boating, fishing and hiking the island are very popular activities. Shell hunters can find so many that the kids will fill up the car when they return home. The island is a sea turtle habitat and during the hatching season (May to October) those who dont mind staying up late at night can witness one of natures most interesting pleasures watching hundreds of small sea turtles "boil out of the sand and marching to the ocean.

There is no other North Carolina barrier island like Holden Beach. If you're looking for low commercial impact, and a wholesome family-oriented atmosphere, you have come to the right place.

Thank you for choosing to rent our dog friendly property for your vacation. Pet friendly properties are for dogs only. Cats, birds, lizards etc. are not allowed in this rental property. Thank you for your understanding. We know that you are excited about bringing your dog to Holden Beach, and we are excited that we are able to allow you this privilege. Holden Beach is proud to now offer a new Dog Park for our canine visitors! It is located near the end of Scotch Bonnet Dr. on the right just before the curve. Scotch Bonnet Dr. is located approx. mid-island just past the pier, off the 500 block of Ocean Blvd, in the second set of canals. There are two “off leash” fenced in play yards that cater to large and small breeds. In order to make sure that we can continue to offer this convenience, there are a few guidelines that we ask you to follow: Please only allow one small dog (under 45 pounds) along with a $300 non-refundable pet fee. Payment Policy
ADVANCE PAYMENTS. All reservations require a $200 deposit at time of booking after which a rental lease agreement will be mailed or emailed to you immediately. The rental lease agreement must be signed by you and returned to our office with your advance rental payment of 50% of the weekly rental amount plus a processing fee, tax, trip insurance, by the due date. Advance payments can be paid by personal, certified/cashier’s check, cash, credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover or Debit card). * **   Upon receipt of payment and signed agreement, your reservation is confirmed. If lease and agreement are not received by due date, your reservation will be canceled without further notice. All payments must be made in US funds. Returned (NSF) check fee is $34. Your payment and NSF fee must be paid immediately by certified or cashier’s check, to avoid cancellation. NSF payments by check or credit card will not be redeposited or charged a second time.     
BALANCES: Your lease agreement is your final billing notice and will list the date final payment will be due. You will NOT receive an additional balance due notification prior to arrival, so be sure to mark your calendar! You may pay with personal check if final payment is received 90 days prior to your arrival date.  A late fee of $55.00 will be accessed to all accounts that are not paid in full 90 days in advance.
For reservations made within 90 days of arrival, balance must be paid in full at time of booking.  Only certified funds, credit card or cash will be accepted

Refundable Damage Deposit
SECURITY DEPOSITS. A security deposit is required on all rentals.  
The security deposit will be refunded back to the guest who booked the reservation and will be refunded back to credit card of the initial 1st payment of record. Refunds are credited back to the 1st credit card used to book and hold the reservation, provided the cottage is left in good condition, no items are missing including batteries from remotes, no damage has occurred and no service calls or expenses to the owner have resulted from:  moving or disconnecting electronics or furniture, smoking in a NON SMOKING property, having a pet in a NO PETS property or pet damage or additional cleanup, exceptionally dirty or not adhering to the requirements of duties by guest prior to check out, non-standard departure clean, long distant phone calls, cable charges, etc. The security deposit may be applied to actual damages or expenses caused by tenants, as permitted under the Tenant Security Deposit Act. Should damages or expenses occur that exceed the amount of the security deposit, the remaining balance will be billed to and paid by the guest. Please register and report any problems, un-cleanliness, or damage in your property the day of check-in, or you can/will be held responsible.  Allow 30-45 days from day of departure for refund.

Cancellation Policy
In the event there is a cancellation or a transfer of a confirmed rental for any reason, we must be notified in writing, email or fax. We will make every reasonable effort to re-rent the cancelled property. If the cancelled property is re-rented for the original lease amount, tenant will receive a refund of the payment made less $225.00 , reservation fee, applicable taxes and the trip insurance premium if it was purchased. Refunds will be made within 60 days after receipt of entire balance due on new reservations, on same property, same rental period, and same rental rate; otherwise no refund will be issued.
