Overview
Two Creek Hill is nestled in 3 private wooded acres, yet is only an easy 6 minute drive from Stowe Village. Wake to views of water, trees and mountains, spend the day skiing, hiking, biking or enjoying Stowe's many award winning restaurants and breweries, and finish in the hot tub or with a book by the fire.
A classic three-level chalet, Two Creek Hill was renovated at the end of 2014, and is furnished in a clean and comfortable modern rustic style. Every floor has at least one bedroom and full bathroom. All of the bedrooms have ample closet space and views of the surrounding woods.
The Pinnacle Room, on the top floor, has a queen bed and en suite bathroom. A reading loft with a two story view of the mountain and surrounding woods has a sectional sofa that is widely considered to be the best spot in the house for doing a puzzle or reading a book.
The main floor includes the kitchen, living and dining rooms, wood stove, wall-mounted flatscreen TV and two bedrooms – The Pond and Creek Rooms. The Pond Room is very cosy and has a queen bed, while the Creek Room has a twin size bunk bed suitable for both kids and adults.
The open plan of the living and dining rooms, loft and kitchen allows for easy conversation and mingling as you and your guests cook, eat, laugh and relax. The main level’s two story floor-to-ceiling windows bring in abundant light and allow a close up view of the surrounding woods from nearly every spot on the main floor.
With a bench seat running its entire length, 8 lounge chairs and patio table, the wraparound deck is a key feature of the house and is designed for outdoor enjoyment. Pass lazy days with your feet propped up or gather friends and family for sundowners and dinner. The large area is perfect for entertaining groups, or enjoying intimate moments looking out over the pond. During the warmer months, many a guest has spent the whole day in what we consider to be the "summer living room".
The ground floor is centered on a large family room that features another flatscreen TV, Blu-ray/DVD player, wood stove and provides easy access to the outdoor hot tub. The Birch Room is just off of this main room and contains a queen bed and a large double closet. The mudroom with a separate entrance and heated floors, ample hooks, benches and storage as well as the washer and dryer is also on this level.
This well-designed layout allows for maximum flexibility. Guests can share each other's company in the common areas, but also enjoy privacy and personal time in the different bedrooms and floors.
You will have the property to yourselves. You have access to all four bedrooms, the extremely well-equipped kitchen, hot tub, wrap-around deck, pond, fire pit, wood stoves, satellite TV, WiFi internet and gas grill (only available from May/June through October).
We will communicate with you by email and/or phone to set up your reservation. Our property manager is only a phone call or email away and can be there within 15 minutes if you have a plumbing, heating water or other emergency. They can handle any contingency and are incredibly responsive. One of them comes by once a week to monitor and maintain the hot tub, and in winter they ensure that the driveway is plowed and sanded, but those are pretty much the only times you'll see anybody at the house outside of whomever you bring with you.
We love the fact that we are on three secluded acres acres - yet only 5 minutes drive from the center of Stowe Village. It feels like a personal hideaway on a private mountain top, but if we forget to buy milk (or ice cream), we can get to the grocery store in 10 minutes. Stowe Hollow is a great neighborhood and the Pinnacle trail which is very close to the house is an extremely popular hike. You will see many hikers passing by as well as neighbors who often greet each other on the road, chat, and get to know one another.
Two Creek Hill is only a 5 minute walk to the Pinnacle Peak trailhead; 2 miles (6 minute drive) from Stowe Village's Main Street; 8 miles from the Von Trapp Family Lodge; 12 miles from Mt. Mansfield and Smuggler's Notch ski areas; 10 miles from the Ben and Jerry's Factory's heart-clogging goodness; 11 miles from Waterbury; and 36 miles from Burlington International Airport.
Adjacent to the C.C. Putnam State Forest, Two Creek Hill provides easy access to over 13,000 acres of natural beauty. In addition, the Stowe Land Trust preserves 1,000s of acres and 100s of trail miles for public use year- round. Waterbury Reservoir, 10 minutes down the road, offers kayaking, canoeing, fishing and hiking. The Long Trail, Catamount Trail and VAST Trails all pass nearby.
A car is necessary (or a bike at a minimum, but only if you're used to biking hills and distances. Going down is fun, but up? Well...). There's no public transportation to speak of and most activities require some travel time. There is a free shuttle from Stowe Village to the ski areas and back in winter but for now it doesn't run in summer. There are also a couple of reliable, all-weather taxi services that can take you as close as the village and as far away as Burlington, Boston or New York for a price. In winter, a 4WD or AWD (or at least snow tires) are highly recommended as Pinnacle Road and the driveway can be tough for two-wheel-drive vehicles to climb. Rentals are available at Burlington Airport.
-25 is the minimum age for rental
-Shaw's Grocery Store and Mac's Market are 8-10 minutes drive away, making it easy to pick up supplies when you arrive. You can get most everything you need in town, so no need to pack expedition style on the way up, but you might want to bring any specialty items with you. We can also provide the names of local businesses that can provide catering, grocery shopping or other concierge type services if you just want to relax and have someone take care of you.
-We are connected to a well, and as a result the water coming out of the tap sometimes has a slight sulphur smell. It's perfectly fine to drink (it's been tested and we guzzle it ourselves) but some folks prefer to bring bottled water.
-When we renovated, we put in all new appliances and fixtures that are Energy Star or Water Sense compliant. We also replaced all bulbs with LEDs and a few CFCs. We hope that you'll help us protect Vermont's beauty and resources by conserving as much as possible and recycling while you're at the Hill.

Pinnacle Bedroom |
| 2 | The Pinnacle Bedroom, on the top floor, has a queen bed, full en suite bathroom and newly installed wall-to-wall carpet. Hypoallergenic duvet, hotel quality bedding and fluffy pillows guarantee sweet dreams and plenty of restful slumber. Broad windows provide an ever changing view into the surrounding woods, while a skylight above the bed allows you to look up at the bright Vermont stars as you drift off. |
Pond Bedroom |
| 2 | The Pond Bedroom, just off of the main floor living room, has a queen bed and direct views of the pond. A vintage iron bed, hypoallergenic duvet, hotel quality bedding and fluffy pillows help make this one of the cosiest rooms in the house. A small library in this room makes you want to curl up with a good book and perhaps take a well deserved nap. |
Creek Bedroom |
| 2 | The Creek Bedroom, just off of the main floor living room, has a bunk bed suitable for both kids and adults. Bright and fun, this room also offers hypoallergenic duvets, high quality bedding and a quiet spot for kids to play or relax. The Creek room looks out over the woods and has a good collection of children’s books, toys and games. There is a large floor space for playing, but it is close by the living room if supervision and peacekeeping are required. |
Birch Bedroom |
| 2 | The Birch Bedroom is just off of the ground floor family room. The most private of the sleeping areas, it has a queen bed with a custom upholstered headboard and looks out at the pond. Like the other bedrooms, it offers hypoallergenic duvets, hotel-quality bedding, and comfy pillows. The closets in Birch are the largest of any of the rooms, making it ideal for gear and clothing storage during your stay. |

Owner
After spending several summers here, we decided it was time to formally put down Vermont roots. We bought this property in 2014 and began our Two Creek Hill adventure.
We've stayed in a lot of hotels, beds and breakfasts and vacation rentals (and tents, hammocks, bunkers, and floors) over the years. We've tried to incorporate the aspects we've liked most about these different places (ok, maybe not the bunkers and floors) into Two Creek Hill's renovation and ethos.
We love the house and the area. More than any other place else we've lived, Stowe feels like home every time we return. We hate leaving. We hope you will be as happy here as we have been.
