Cottage Features

Accommodation for up to 4 guests and 1 well behaved pet

A private parking bay, not suitable for low profile vehicles

Pubs, restaurants & shops within a few minutes walk

A downstairs WC and upstairs family bathroom

Free wifi via cable, with coverage throughout the cottage

A powerful log burner, plus central heating throughout

Large Kitchen/Dining Room, inc electric oven & hob, dishwasher, microwave

A handy utility room with extra workspace plus washing machine & tumble dryer

A terrace garden overlooking Coniston Water

The cottage dates back to the 1850’s, originally built to accommodate Miners and their families. As you can imagine, it has had many cosmetic makeovers over the decades, but in 2012 it was completely restored to provide a warm and cosy self catering cottage with charm, character and everything you need for a holiday for up to 4 people.

Downstairs, the front door leads straight into the lounge with 2 two-seater sofa’s set around the log burner. The large Kitchen/Dining area contains a full size fridge-freezer, Dishwasher, Electric Oven, Hob and a microwave etc, with a 6 seater dining table set up for 4 people This leads to a useful utility room which houses the washing machine, dishwasher, iron and ironing board, and a place to kick off the walking boots. There’s plenty of work space and shelving in here to store any extra items such as beer or wine! We also have a generous sized downstairs cloakroom and WC with a sink unit.

Upstairs offers a large king sized bedroom and twin bedded room with ample storage and hanging space for your items, with a family sized bathroom that includes a bath/mira shower.

All the beds will be made up for you, with a hand and bath towel on each bed. There will be some basic cleaning items in the kitchen e.g. washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, tea towels and dishcloths.

You will need to bring your own wood for the burner. If using the wood-burner, it is advisable to lower the radiator thermostat in the lounge as the burner produces a lot of heat……we have had the front door open whilst it’s snowing outside!

The cottage has BT fibre 1 Broadband with WIFI throughout, a smart TV with NETFLIX (also giving you access to your PRIME, BBC iplayer and ITV hub accounts).

The cottage is dog friendly, with many walks that are available straight from the front door, but please read our terms and conditions.

The terrace garden is the perfect place to sit for that morning cuppa or an early evening drink.

Just down the lane you will find the Sun Inn, which is a traditional, real ale pub that has a great menu and a roaring log fire throughout the winter months. There are numerous pubs and restaurants further into the village – we always try to get a table at Steam Bistro but it’s very popular and gets booked up quickly. Approximately 10 minutes along the old railway track is the Ship Inn, and both the menu and the ales are worth a visit. All the pubs in the village accept dogs, provided they are kept on their leads, and they will provide drinking water.
