The views of the garden & jungle are awe-inspiring and make you feel like you’re in the midst of the wilds (while still in civilization). Be charmed by the relaxing layout and appealing décor. You’ll will find everything you need here for a spectacular vacation, including a queen bed, 2 twin sofa beds, private deck with 4 hammocks, full outdoor kitchen & laundry. Amazing outings to nearby adventures are close by!

The Belize Bungalow at Lucky Dreamer Lodge was our home for several years before moving into the new home we built a bit closer to the river. The bungalow is GENUINE Belizean built - sturdy & functional, but not fancy.

The large deck has 4 hammocks, and additional seating - with room to spare! We are steps away from the Macal River and have a two-person kayak and innertubes ready for your use (no additional charge). The Belize Bungalow does not have a view of the river, but does have a nice jungle-yard view (as seen in the many photos).

We also have a second bungalow at Lucky Dreamer Lodge that sleeps 2 with a beautiful river view - the Banana Bungalow.

The Belize Bungalow is fully screened. There is a custom-made mahogany queen bed, and two custom-made twin-size sofa beds. The very large, covered/screened deck overlooks the property. There are birds everywhere & of every kind! We had a birdwatcher recently identify over 60 bird species in a three week period!

There is a separate outdoor kitchen/dining area for the use of our guests. The kitchen is a shared area with guests that book the Banana Bungalow. It is not inside the cabin - as just boiling water would heat the entire room! Even our own kitchen is 'outside.' :-) The outdoor kitchen is two steps down from the screened deck.

We provide coffee grounds, sugar, powered cream, salt, pepper, garlic powder, season all, a variety of hot sauces, and many other condiments/cooking ingredients. The shared outdoor kitchen is well-stocked with pots/pans, mixing bowls, dishes flatware, cups, etc. We also have items such as aluminum foil, plastic wrap, non-stick spray, cooking oil, etc.

We also provide (at no charge) a 5 gallon jug of filtered water for the use of guests (which we replace as needed). We recommend bringing refillable/lidded bottles to take advantage of the water and to avoid buying bottled water while here. We also keep one gallon of water in the frig, and have ice packs and ice cubes available for guest use.

The entire property is Smoke-Free and Vape-Free. For our smoking/vaping guests, it is a short walk to either the riverside, or the roadside to catch a quick puff or two.

Parking Included

There is secure, dedicated parking for the Bungalow. It is an uncovered parking spot, and there is no charge.

We (Jeff & Cheryl) moved to the 'wilds' of Belize from the 'wilds' of Minnesota in 2014. Since moving to Belize we purchased some land on the Macal River, built our own home, and two guest bungalows that we run as Lucky Dreamer Lodge.

We have extensive experience in the hospitality industry with over 33 years of combined experience at Walt Disney World and another 10+ years of joint experience in owning our own restaurant, herb farm and Bed & Breakfast in the states. We definitely know what it means to exceed our guests' expectations!

We're pretty laid back, and can spend as much or as little time interacting with you as you want. We are happy to answer any questions you have about the area - especially before booking with us. But of course, we'd love to have you choose us as your Belize destination for the jungle portion of your vacation!

Once here (Lucky Dreamer Lodge), the local buses and village shuttle service stop right in front of our property from 7am to about 5pm daily, Mon-Saturday. (There is no public transportation available on Sundays or Holidays, other than taxi service) The bus & shuttle cost @ $1 U.S. each way from us to San Ignacio. The ride takes about 15 minutes. Taxi rides run between $10-$15.00 U.S. each way based on daytime or nighttime.

GETTING HERE from the Airport or other parts of Belize [Transportation Options]

We recommend Belize Caving Expeditions for ground transportation between areas of Belize. We’ve found their rates to be less than any other private shuttle services. But other options include, Public Buses, Car Rental, Group Shuttle Service, Taxis, Commuter Flights.

Policies and Rules

Check In: 4PM - Flexible

We will meet you upon your arrival and provide you with the Bungalow Key and a short orientation of the property & area. There are a few details we like to provide guests upon arrival. (For example – the Howler Monkeys don't howl - they ROAR! The toucans croak like frogs & geckos chirp like baby birds!) We also will cover some more mundane items like where to store food/snacks/drinks, how to dispose of trash, electricity use, outdoor kitchen use, etc. If the main gate is closed when you arrive just ring the Ring doorbell on our sign to the left of the driveway and we’ll come out to open it.

No pets

We accept licensed Service Animals. They cannot be left alone for any amount of time on the property, and must be able to get along with our dogs.

Minimum age limit for renters: 21

Maximum occupancy: 4

We can only accommodate 4 people total (inclusive of infants/children) in this Bungalow. We do have another Bungalow that sleeps 2. So both can be booked to sleep a total of 6.

House Rules

We don't really like rules, but to make everyone's experience better there are a few expectations that are important to know.

Please note that this is a totally non-smoking/non-vaping property.

NOTE: Electricity is very expensive here. For this reason we need guests to turn off all lights, ceiling fans and floor fans whenever they are not in the bungalow. If we notice something is on after you leave, we will most likely enter the bungalow to turn it off.

Please store all food and food-related items in the kitchen area. Food and food-related trash in the bungalow is the quickest way to attract bugs.

We don't mind a few extra people on the property as long as we know in advance about any extra guests you plan to invite to our property (even if just to visit for a few a short time). Please be sure any guests ring the gate doorbell, so we can meet them before entering the property.

We cannot accommodate more than the specified booked guests for your reservation, so please do not invite additional guests to stay overnight. We don't mind small get-togethers, BBQs, etc... - but please, no loud or large parties, etc.... Quiet hours are between 9:00pm to 7:00am.

LAUNDRY AREA USE: There is no charge for doing laundry & we provide detergent & dryer sheets. Just let us know in advance when you want to do laundry & we will turn on the laundry area electricity & propane for you. Laundry hours are 8am-8pm.

- When doing laundry, please remain on property & finish drying before retiring for the night.

- Only add detergent to the washing machine tub, fill with water and then add clothes. Do Not put detergent in the center cap of the washing machine. Do Not wash or dry shoes with the laundry equipment.

No third party bookings. (Do not book for someone else, if you will not be traveling with them.)

Payment Policy

To confirm a reservation a 50% deposit is required at time of booking with the remaining 50% balance due 30 days prior to arrival. The reservation is subject to cancellation if the deposit is not paid within 24 hours and/or the balance is not paid 30 days prior to arrival.

We accept, Visa, MC, AmEx & Discover Credit Cards. All reservations require pre-payment via Credit Card. Once paid, your rate is guaranteed for the duration of your reservation. We do not accept PayPal, Venmo, BitCoin, etc.

When making a reservation 30 days or less prior to arrival date, full payment is required at the time of booking. However, only 50% is charged upon booking online. The 50% balance will be charged separately to your credit card within 24 hours of booking or you will receive a separate invoice to pay the balance online within 24 hours of booking.

Cancellation Policy

We encourage guests to rebook instead of cancelling.

And please, please, please, purchase travel insurance. We recommend using Aardy which will provide you with multiple quotes from several different travel insurance providers to choose from. There are some that are “Cancel for Any Reason.” You usually have up to 2 weeks to purchase travel insurance after booking airfare & lodging, so don’t delay.

If you cancel more than 30 days before arrival, we will issue you a refund – less a $25 U.S administration fee, any bank/credit card processing fees and currency exchange charges (if applicable).

If you cancel less than 30 days before arrival, there are three options:

Submit a claim to your travel insurance policy. We will provide the documentation needed.

Or- You can apply your reservation payment to a later date. Note that if rates change, your original reservation amount will be applied to the new rates (future rates could go up or down).

Or -we will attempt to rent out your booked bungalow. If we are successful, you will receive a refund for the nights we are able to re-book, less a 1-night administration charge. You will not receive a refund for room nights that we were not able to re-book. If your room remains empty for all of the nights of the original reservation, a refund will not be granted.
There is no time frame limitation for rebooking a reservation. It can be next month, next year, or it can be five years from now – or more!

All cancellation requests must be received in writing.

We highly recommend purchasing travel cancellation & interruption insurance provided by most carriers, and/or other travel insurance to cover your reservation if you should need to cancel. We do not charge a housekeeping fee, and there are no automatic service fees. The price listed for your reservation dates is the price you pay.
