A beautifully light and airy apartment with high ceilings on the first floor of one of the detached period houses in the elegant tree lined Bassett Road, the premier address in Ladbroke Grove/Portobello, London.

Two minutes walk from Ladbroke Grove station [ Circle line and Hammersmith & City line ] it is a tranquil place to stay near the hubbub of the Portobello Road and Notting Hill area with your choice of bohemian and culturally diverse restaurants and bars. You can run the full gamut from charming local cafes and street food market in Golborne Road, start with the Golborne Deli for breakfast / brunch, mosey for lunch in the Portobello Garden Cafe and then move on to the Electric, through Lisa's with jazz guitar on Thursday evenings and finally Richard Caring's Pizza East.

Stroll through the Portobello Antique market on Saturday and explore the charms of Notting Hill and West London.

The apartment has wall to wall Nantucket cupboards fitted in the bedroom, ideal for a longer stay. With a little agility required to negotiate the windowsill - as seen in the photographs - you can enjoy a coffee on the diminutive balcony in the sunshine before venturing out to explore the area.

The kitchen has a fridge with separate freezer, Miele washer/dryer, oven, gas hob and extractor, microwave, electric smoothie maker, toaster and electric kettle.

Heating is controlled by a NEST thermostat.

When rented for more than 10 days, my cleaner will attend the property for approx. 2 hours per week after the first week to clean, change the linen/towels at an additional cost of £50.

Super fast 60 MB Fibre optic broadband with unlimited download and a 42 inch Plasma TV with terrestrial channels and HDMI cable.

Please note the bed is a comfortable UK Double - 140cm wide - it is not Kingsize.

Bassett Road and the building are a quiet oasis in a vibrant district - the apartment does not suit party animals :)

When I am in the UK I look forward to meeting guests and imparting local knowledge.
There is a Welcome Book with suggestions and all details with regard to transport and services - all of which are within two minutes walk of the apartment and give access to all parts of London.
Once the reservation is made I will send a digital copy and I send details with regard to airport taxis etc

There is a keysafe outside the building so that you can checkin at the time of your arrival post 2pm unless earlier by prior arrangement.
Please ask when requesting a reservation.

Ladbroke Grove has a thriving local community - there are many small independent shops and amazingly diverse restaurants.
With the Portobello and Golborne Road markets the area has a bohemian and friendly atmosphere where you can browse the antique shops and stop for coffee in an endless number of small cafes.

I would recommend inexpensive taxi companies from both Heathrow and Gatwick - ensuring a stress free arrival :)

Acquire a local SIM card - I recommend GiffGaff as you then download many usefuk Apps including CityMapper for Public Transport and the Taxi Apps - UBER, GreenTomato & Hailo

If the apartment is booked for a few days of your requested dates I can occasionally but not always host guests in an en suite double room in a spacious house with a beautiful garden conveniently situated next to Westfield and 2 mins walk from the Central Line/Overground/Circle Lines.
FYI Westfield is a destination - the largest shopping complex in Europe!

I would not recommend visitors to rent a car in London, parking is well nigh impossible and public transport, UBER and VIAVAN services are excellent :)

Getting around

It is very close to Ladbroke Grove Underground Station, easy for Paddington.
There is also a bus stop 1 minutes walk from the house on Ladbroke Grove with bus routes that take you to all parts of London.

I own five idiosyncratic homes - three in this area, one in Ladbroke Grove and a wonderful house in Shepherd's Bush with a large South facing garden.
Occasionally an apartment is available for guests - it is a fabulous alternative to an hotel with the opportunity to enjoy a real neighbourhood experience - when not let one apartment gives me the chance to practice the saxophone to my hearts content - very quiet until I start! :)

For stays of more than a week and for your convenience a laundry and cleaning service can be arranged for an additional £50 a week.

Preferred payment is by bank transfer to my HSBC UK sterling account.
Should you not have a Sterling account I can use my Revolut Account, this account can handle multiple currencies and facilitates the return of the deposit.
Details are provided once a booking has been agreed.

Cancellation Policy
50% is refundable if canceled more than 30 days prior to Checkin
