Hale O' Honu'ea: Stay in this beautifully furnished 2 bedroom townhome, with polished granite and stainless steel gourmet kitchen, 2 1/2 baths and 1 car garage and relax in over 1600 square feet of indoor living in a spacious open layout.

The tranquil Lanai off the main floor dining area includes a wet bar, Viking grill/rotisserie and outdoor dining seating for 6, as well as a smaller outdoor "coffee nook" with seating for two.

The floor plan here is ideal for privacy and comfort with both bedrooms upstairs away from the main living area and on far ends of the home, each with an ensuite full bathroom. You can feel safe with your family all sleeping upstairs, but you can also enjoy privacy from each other as the master and guest suite are on opposite ends of the upstairs hallway.

The master suite includes a den sitting area, ensuite with jacuzzi tub and private lanai that together with the downstairs lanai extends the living space to over 2000 square feet. Enjoy the view of the naturalized golf course landscaping and the 11th green of the north course in the distance. The daybed in the den converts to a twin or king size bed for the 5th guest if needed.

Your stay at Hale O' Honu'ea includes a gate pass to owners parking at the semi-private Beach Club with ocean-side restaurant, coral reef snorkeling and white sand beach. Covered cabanas and sunbathing chairs are on the beach for guests of property owners only, so all you need to bring are the towels, boogie boards and sand toys that we provide and your sunblock!

Water enthusiasts can rent stand-up paddle boards, surf boards, outriggers and other equipment adjacent to the beach or even join a snorkel, whale-watch (in season), scuba dive, or sunset cruise.

Our community, the Fairways: Just 20 minutes north of Kona Airport in the beautiful Mauna Lani Resort and ideally situated between the Fairmont Orchid Hotel and the Shops of Mauna Lani and the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel. The Fairways is an impeccably maintained luxury gated community on over 20 acres adjacent to the Francis H. Brown North Golf course, one of two championship golf courses within Mauna Lani (your stay includes discounted guest golf rates at both).

Amenities at the Fairways include a large BBQ pavilion, large and luxurious free form swimming pool, spa, waterfalls, and a fitness center with a/c.

So much of what we love about Hawaii is the natural untouched beauty of the island. Hawaii gets most of its electricity from oil-fired power plants, and all the oil has to be imported. We've installed solar panels to lower our reliance on oil imports and in hopes that this small contribution will help reduce our carbon footprint on our paradise.

The master bedroom has a king bed and is located on the second floor. The spacious master suite includes a den, a large closet, and the master bath. The den provides access to the upstairs lanai. The riser day bed sofa in the master den has full thickness mattresses and can be converted to a twin, two twins, or full size king bed.

The second upstairs bedroom features two double beds and a full bath. The second floor bedrooms are located at opposite ends of the floor, separated by a hallway ensuring individual privacy.

The common area with pool, spa, waterfall and outdoor leisure space is within a minute walk from the front door. Free WiFi at pool. The condo is secluded from any common area traffic and noise. Guests staying with us also have parking pass access to the semi-private Owners Beach Club, where you can use the covered cabanas and provide beach loungers for no additional charge. Guests can play Tennis or Golf at the Mauna Lani facilities. Two Championship Golf Courses within Mauna Lani + a "Wikiwiki" 9 hole course.

We are an active family of 4 and we have been visiting the Hawaiian islands for years to escape the cold winters (and even the cool summers) of the Pacific Northwest. We are both competitive athletes and have done dozens of marathons and triathlons all over the world including Ironman distance races. In fact, we first found the Fairways at Mauna Lani racing the Honu 70.3.

We have 2 children and enjoy traveling anywhere we can enjoy good food, good weather, different cultures - and still play in the outdoors.

We found ourselves returning to Mauna Lani more than any place else in the tropics. What we love most about Mauna Lani is that it offers privacy away from the crowds elsewhere yet offers the convenience of close by restaurants and shops when you want them. It has beautiful calm waters for safe snorkeling, waves (when you want them) for surfing, and nature abounds with the turtles, coral reef, dolphin and whale sightings. There are miles of running and cycling right out the door.

We stayed at other properties within Mauna Lani but feel that the grounds, large free form pool, spa and location of the Fairways are the perfect combination of private yet convenient to the amenities of the rest of the resort as it is close enough to walk to the Fairmont Orchid and Shops of Mauna Lani.

We chose Hale O' Honu'ea because of all the floorplans we've stayed in Mauna Lani, it suits our family and friends the best. All bedrooms are upstairs which makes us feel safe; the bedrooms are on opposite ends of the townhome so they feel private; each has it's own ensuite bathroom for convenience; the open floor plan of the main living space and windows on the upper floor allow the island breeze to move through.

We've made updates to make it even more comfortable and hope that you will enjoy it as much as we do.

Our daughter named 'Hale O' Honu'ea', Home of the Hawksbill Turtle. In conjunction with Oahu's Sea Life Park, Mauna Lani Resort raises honu (the green sea turtle) releases them when mature, helping the comeback of honu. The native Hawksbill turtle, or Honu'ea, is more endangered and the Big Island is one of it's few nesting places. Our family hopes someday to see the Honu'ea frequenting the waters of Mauna Lani too.

We are transitioning to our condo to be more 'green'. We've installed ceiling fans and screens to enjoy the island breeze. We provide personal amenity dispensers that reduce plastic bottle waste of typical hotel 'travel size' products. We are converting to CFL and LED lighting. We've chosen BPA-free acrylics for outdoor drinkware. We provide environmentally responsible detergents and will continue to transition to like products throughout Hale O' Honu'ea. We've installed solar panels that reduce our reliance on oil-generated electricity. We admit that we have far to go, but we feel these small steps are all in the right direction to protect the natural beauty of this special place.

Fairways Community House Rules:
Hanging of laundry on the lanais is strictly prohibited. No beach towels or the like shall be hung from anywhere on any lanai including the railings on the second floor of any unit and no dryer racks of any kind shall be used that are visible from the outside of the unit. No visible storage of items including but not limited to baby carriages or strollers, bicycles, canoes, kayaks, exercise equipment, toys, or golf carts shall be allowed on the lanai or front entrance way.

PARKING AND VEHICULAR RESTRICTIONS Guests must register the model, color and license plate number of all motor vehicles that will be on the premises of the Fairways overnight. Such information is to be submitted to the Site Manager. Parking stalls are for vehicles utilized by owners, occupants and guests. Guests shall NOT park motor vehicles in front of their respective garages or anywhere within the courtyard area which is the paved area between the six garages. Temporary loading or unloading is permitted only when the vehicle is attended. Any guest who violates the parking regulations may have their vehicle towed at their risk and expense.

No Smoking In All Common Element Areas.

Garbage Etiquette
• All garbage must be enclosed in plastic bags and put into bins provided. 
• ALL cardboard MUST be cut down and flattened. Only containers with the appropriate HI 5 recycling symbol can be put into the recycling container.

POOL/SPA HOURS: 8 AM - 9PM No lifeguards are on duty - Use at your own risk
Access is limited to The Fairways occupants and guests who possess a valid pool key POOL RULES • A cleansing shower before entering the pool or spa is required • Appropriate swim wear is required • Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a responsible adult (18 yrs or older) at all times • No inflatables are allowed in the pool except an air mattress, noodle or child safety device • No persons with open sores or communicable diseases are allowed in the pool or spa • Spitting, spouting of water, and blowing the nose in the public swimming pool shall be strictly prohibited • Swim diapers are a must for any child of diaper age • • • Accidents occurring in the pool must be reported immediately. The pool shall be immediately closed for cleaning in the event of an accidental fecal or vomitus discharge.

Payment Policy
KEYS. ONE Pool key and one Beach Access card will be provided. Loss of any key will incur a charge equivalent to the replacement of the key (as charged by Fairways or Mauna Lani AOAOs) from Damage Deposit. Pool key ($250); Beach Access Card ($75).

WHEN AND HOW LONG OCCUPANTS MAY OCCUPY. Occupancy will commence on the CHECK-IN DATE 4PM and terminate on the CHECK-OUT DATE AT 10AM.

Refundable Damage Deposit
Security deposit is refunded within 7 days of check-out, after housekeeping confirms that no damage has been done.
Cancellation Policy
CANCELLATION FEES. If a reservation is cancelled by Guest 60 days or more prior to the scheduled arrival date, a full refund minus 10% (to cover processing time and fees incurred by owner) of amount paid will be returned. If a reservation is cancelled 30-59 days prior to arrival a full refund minus 25% of amount paid will be returned. For cancellations with less than 30 days notice, no refund of payment will be given. No refunds will be made for unused days or early departures. Owner will reasonably and in good faith work with Guest to reschedule dates and/or minimize loss of paid rental fees. Fees minus any processing charges incurred by the owner (e.g. credit card processing fees, website charged fees), shall be reimbursed to Guest for any and all cancelled nights the Owner is able to “re-rent”.
