House Rules
Aloha and Welcome!

We are happy you chose our rainforest hideaway for your much needed vacation. We hope you find it as peaceful and relaxing as it is intended. We take pride in our rental, we ask that you treat it with the same respect you would your own home.

We are located in the endangered tropical Hawaiian rainforest. It is warm, even when it rains. There are no snakes, leeches, deadly spiders, lyme disease, poison oak, poison ivy or boogie man that can hurt you. The only critters that could possibly bother you here are of the stinging variety; bees and centipedes. The jungle is filled with birds, wild pigs, mongoose, geckos, chameleons and bugs. This wildlife could not survive without plenty of insects. To help us keep the insect population out of the house please do not leave any food or leftovers out and keep the kitchen as clean as possible. Wipe up any spills and food stuffs that have fallen on to the floor. There are containers for food storage provided. It is recommended to throw food scraps (compostable scraps ONLY, no garbage, the garbage goes in bins) out into the jungle or directly into the garbage can outside and let the critters eat it out there! (FYI-they will enter the kitchen garbage can)
Please do not eat in bed. Please empty kitchen trash daily into outside bin. The garbage can and recycle bin are located in the center carport closet. Hawaii County recycles, glass, cans, plastic containers and milk bottles, paper and cardboard. Please respect our a’ina (earth) and put recyclables in the bin provided.

To keep the jungle outside, we ask that you do not wear shoes in the house. There are house shoes provided if you are not comfortable barefooted or you can wear socks. Please do not wear the indoor house shoes outside.

Yes, there are mosquitoes here. There are citronella candles and mosquito coils in the kitchen cupboard. Do not burn these inside. There is a metal pan on the lanai for this use. You may want to use mosquito repellant on
your body and clothing if you find the mosquitoes have taken a strong liking to you. There is a mosquito net over the bed that you can drop if they bother you while you rest.

Those are coqui frogs that sing you to sleep at night. If their singing is too loud for you, there are earplugs in the drawer next to the bed.
