Converted Village Inn - Lydbrook

Set in the centre of the village of Lydbrook in the dramatic Royal Forest of Dean, and a short walk from the River Wye, The Anchor could hardly be better placed for a memorable self catering holiday in the Forest of Dean or Wye Valley.

We've converted this charming village pub to provide the setting for what we hope will be a memorable holiday.

Indoors there's space to sleep 20 in 7 bedrooms , with a couple of cots for the little ones, and you all get your own bathroom, 6 of the 7 are en suite while the sixth has its own adjacent . On the ground floor the snug houses a sofa bed with a bathroom and loo attached and theres a separate lavatory as well. The atmospheric lounge has a woodburner, satellite tv, dvd player and music system, while the barrel vaulted Dining Room will make you think you've stepped back in time and accommodates everybody round the table - it even has its own little bar.

On site, there's plenty to keep everybody amused : a games room with table tennis, pool, table football and more; a hot tub to unwind after a day's walking, canoeing or cycling in the Forest of Dean, a barbecue area and plenty of outdoor seating. For the kids there's our own woodland garden behind the house leading to the old Forest of Dean railway track (now dismantled) which offers a magical (and flat) walk either down to the river or up into the heart of the Forest.

On the edge of the village of Lydbrook the nearby facilities are superb: 10 minutes walk through the woods will take you to a wonderful country pub, an organic restaurant, an Indian restaurant, the Wye Fry fish and chip shop,is a stones throw away and down at the river there's a canoe launch and the Wye Valley Way for fantastic walking.
