Overview

Looking for a quiet, relaxing beachfront place with a pool, balcony with fabulous view of the Caribbean, & just an 11 min walk to the Old City? This modern apartment with AC, hot water, & strong wifi is perfect for two couples, a couple of friends, or a small family! I can help connect you to volunteering opportunities, dive certification, Spanish and dance classes, & more!

The apartment is on the 15th floor with a balcony that goes the length of the apartment -- you'll love watching the sun set each evening over the sea! You also have a great view north to the Marbella/Crespo area of the coast and beyond, as well as a sneak peak at the part of the Old City wall called "La Tenaza." There are windows in the back of the apartment that give you a view of the Popa, the highest point in Cartagena, as well as the Castillo San Felipe.

The building is in the Cabrero district, was built in 2010, has 24 hour reception, two elevators; and a pool (15meters x 4meters x 1.3meters), jacuzzi, sauna, & social area on the 7th floor.

Each bedroom has night tables, reading lamps, small desk with chair, full length mirror, a private full bath with walk in closet, floor to ceiling sliding glass doors which lead out to the balcony, & hammock just outside the door!

--Bedroom 1 has the option of two XL twin beds (1x2 meters/39x78 inches each) or a king bed (2x2 meters/78x78 inches).

--Bedroom 2 has a US standard queen sized bed bed (1.53x2 meters/60x78 inches).

The kitchen is well-stocked for cooking & eating and there is counter seating. The living/dining area has a table with seating for four, nice seating, TV, plus opens right up to the balcony, where there is a small table and four chairs. There is a half bath off the living area.

Each room has a ceiling fan and mini split air conditioner.

In addition, there is a laundry area with washer/dryer, clothes drying racks & laundry sink.

APARTMENT AMENITIES:
*Air conditioning (mini-split in each room, including the living room; many apts only have AC in the bedrooms)
*Ceiling fans
*40" Samsung smart TV/cable
*Wifi
*Hot water (many Cartagena apartments don't have this)
*Washer, dryer & clothes drying racks
*Oven/stove (both gas)
*Refrigerator/freezer
*Microwave, toaster, blender
*Various ways to make coffee
*Balcony going the length of the apartment
*Hammock
*Hair dryer
*Iron/ironing board
*Bed linens
*Towels: bath, hand, beach/pool
*Locking closet with small digital safe in each bedroom
*Blackout curtains in bedrooms
*Landline for local phone calls
*Weekly housecleaning
*Back up water & electrical systems (there are often water & electrical outages in Cartagena; this building has back ups for both which not all Cartagena buildings have--AC will not work when on back up generator but fans, fridge, lights, etc, will)

Possible at additional expense:
*Additional housecleaning (weekly already included)
*Home cooked Colombian meal(s)

BUILDING AMENITIES:
*Pool (15Mx4Mx1.3M), jacuzzi, sauna, dining/social area (9 am to 6 pm)
*24 hour doorman
*Elevator
*Pharmacy with mini-mart on ground floor (grocery store within a 5 minute walk)
*Helicopter landing pad on the roof (seriously! Let me know if you'll be arriving by chopper)

Guests have access to the entire apartment with the exception of a locked owner's closet. In addition, the building has a pool and adjoining area which includes a jacuzzi, sauna, and dining/social area (hours 9 am to 6 pm).

I have lived in Cartagena for over two years and would be happy to help in any way I can either via email/phone prior to your arrival or during your stay. In addition, Walter & Tara, a US couple who have lived in Cartagena for 7+ years and who live a 7 minute walk from the apartment, will arrange to meet you on arrival to check you in and help as needed while you are there.

I love Cartagena's Old Walled City, but I also love a modern building by the beach with a pool -- this building is an 11 minute (per Goo gle) walk or a COP$8,000/~US$2.50 taxi ride to/from the Old Walled City, so it is the best of both worlds. It's located in the Cabrero neighborhood which is quiet & residential. The historic Rafael Nuñez House and Apollo Park with chapel is a short walk away (on the way to the Old City). The beach is across the street.

There is a pharmacy/mini-mart on the building's ground floor, another mini-mart/fast food place around the corner, and a larger grocery store about a 5 minute walk away. There are a handful of other small restaurants/grocery stores nearby as well.

The magical Old City itself is steps away -- you'll love wandering the maze of quaint streets with their colonial architecture, shops, restaurants, museums & little plazas.

The apartment is a 5-10 minute/COP$15,000 (~US$4+) taxi ride from the airport, a less than 5 minute/COP$8000 (~US$2.50) taxi ride in to the Old City, a 5-10 minute/COP$10,000 (~US$3) taxi ride away from other sites/areas, such as San Felipe Castle (the huge old Spanish fort) or the tourist dock (for the boats to the Rosario Islands, where many prefer to go for the beach). Taxis are readily available.

Walking during the day is also a great option (it's about 10 minutes to the Old City), but I advise bringing a hat and an umbrella to ward off the equatorial sun! Taxis are advised at night.

I partner with 'Pack for a Purpose', an organization that links travelers who'd like to help fulfill wish lists of non-profits in developing countries. We work with community organizations in impoverished areas as well as with an organization helping street animals, and would love to have your help!

Getting around

Host

I've lived most of my life in the U.S. but have also lived for a couple of months to up to two years in different countries: Germany, Spain, Australia, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, & Belize. Since 2011 I've been living a somewhat nomadic lifestyle while exploring, working & volunteering in new & old places in North, Central & South America and Europe. It's a great way to keep learning!

I was fortunate to meet a couple from Dallas, who own the Cartagena, Colombia, & Ambergris Caye, Belize, vacation rentals I'm listing. They asked me to help them out and I've fallen into doing something that I love -- helping people like you with their travels. Let me help you with your dream vacation! In the fall of 2015, I was lucky enough to be able to buy my own apartment in Cartagena, Colombia, and rent it when I'm not in Colombia.

We also partner with 'Pack for a Purpose', an organization that links travelers who'd like to help fulfill wish lists of non-profits in developing countries. We work with schools, community organizations & animal rescue groups in both Colombia & Belize. We'd love to have your help!
